The Little Elf's Tour Of Home

Our little elf is excited to show you his Christmas house. Isn't his excited face funny?!

This is our living room. It is always fun to decorate because there is endless options and lots of room. We also do not use this room every day so it can have the breakables in it since our little elf likes to touch, feel and throw these days.

Our living room tree is such a fun addition to our decor. We had it for the first time last year. The elf's Nana gave it to us because she said our front window needed a tree in it really bad. So, here it is. I like to make it sassy and fun since I prefer a traditional family tree in our den.

I had to put my nutcrackers up high this year. They look kind of funny up that high but in order to have them for years to come, I had to shield them from the elf's reach.

I have a forest of trees and a garland wrapped light fixture in the dining room that both make me smile. Our little elf loves eating in here instead of at the bar and that too makes me smile.

Our den is grand central station at our house. It is where we spend most of our time and the door to the garage and Randall's shop is off of this room. It is a wonder it even looks presentable most of the time. I love this dark room of fun and so does our elf.

This is our family tree. It is truly one of my most favorite things in the whole world. That may sound silly, but it is true. All of our ornaments tell a story of our life before the elf and since the elf. I can laugh and cry looking at this tree. Even Randall enjoys filling this tree up with memories. I would say 1/3 of the ornaments are from him as gifts or from his travels. I have trained him well! We purchase one on every trip, each year we get a dated ornament from the Lights Over The Delta, and if one of us travels to a state or country we have not yet visited we get an ornament representing that state or the reason we traveled there. We also buy one that represents each one of us every year and give it to each other on Christmas Eve. We have childhood ornaments, wedding ornaments, family ornaments, new baby ornaments, and Santa faces...we love Santa. Melissa, Julie and I exchange ornaments with our kids each year. I love that we do that for our kids. They will cherish them when they are grown. I hope their wives cherish them and don't throw them out!!! Anna will help salvage them, hopefully!

This is my attempt to decorate the banister with an elf in the house. He is learning to climb the stairs so garland and lights were not an option. I found this idea on Pinterest and used what I had to create these little groupings. I like it. It is simple and fun.

Our porch is fun. I don't do tons outside. This is about as good as it gets. I did put a Santa hat on the pig after I took this photo. We have lighted deer in our yard and our Razorback sleigh is out with a spotlight on it also. We always put wreaths on each window and the mailbox. It was hard to get a good photo of the house and I also don't like to post too many photos of the outside of my house so you can just imagine what it looks like. I guess we do decorate more outside than I think....anyway, it is pretty. Trust me!

The stockings are hung by the den chimney with lots of care. My great-grandmother made mine when I was born, I made Randall's and Mama made Henry's. They are not all matchy-matchy like you see in the magazines and I actually really love it. They are true Christmas stockings. My maternal family all has stocking like this. I can go into any of their homes and see this same scene. It make my heart leap a bit. I love that about our group. Mama and Aunt Janet have done well carrying on Granny's touch.

After all the glitter is mopped up, the lights burn out and the wreaths fall off the window from a hard wind, we still have Jesus. He is the reason we get all spruced up and festive. I am so glad I have a little elf in the house who is learning why this special baby is the focus of our celebrations.
