Henry - 6 Month Photos

Well, Lindsey did it again! (She has more on her blog if you want to look at a few more snapshots of our boy)

She came to our house for the day earlier in the month and took Henry's 6 month pictures. She always captures his sweet little spirit each time. I love it! She is such a dear friend of ours and I love that she helps us record all his sweet little milestones.

It really all comes back to David

Last week while we were at the pool, David needed to run home for something.) And when I say run home, I mean ride his bike. We live like 5 houses down from the pool)

I gave him the garage door opener to get in the house and he gave it back to me when he got back. But not before he had already spent a good 20 minutes with it in his pocket, in the pool. So, yes the opener is trash! It was the only one that worked, so now we are without a garage door opener.

Friday night we came home from dinner and I had to go around to the back of the house unlock the door and go to the garage and open the door from the inside. But when I came in from outside the phone was ringing. I ran to answer it before I opened the garage door, it was David (who is staying at Stephen's parents for a few days) I told him to hold on and then procedded to drop the phone to the floor.

Or what I thought was going to be the floor. Since the kitchen was dark I had forgotten that the cooler was sitting there and it was full of water.

And that is where the phone landed.

In a cooler full of water!

So, yes the phone is trash!

I have Henry this week. (Maybe forever??!!!!) (Just joking, Abby!)

Last night we headed out for a ball tournament that Samuel is playing in. We got to the town and it was raining, raining, raining. After a few minutes of sitting in the van while the rain continued to pour, we got the call that the game had been cancelled and so we headed home.

After finding out the that the game was cancelled I put the phone in the cup holder in the van. In case someone else called, I wouldn't have to go searching for my phone in my new pink purse! Which I love!!

This morning we get a call from Stephen's parents saying that David is running a fever and what should they give him. Hello, Tylenol and Motrin! But anyway....

So, I began looking for my phone so that I could call Abby and tell her that Henry has started calling me Mama and is asking that I fight for custody of him. But, I couldn't find it.

Stephen then came home, handed me my phone, and said "call Abby!" I looked on my phone and I had 33 missed calls.

Can I just say right here that It takes me about a month to get 33 calls. Much less 33 missed calls in 12 hours!

Most of them were Stephen's dad calling every minute from 10:00 to 10:30 last night. Poor David. All he wanted was to feel better and talk to his Mom, and my phone was in the van.

The other calls were Abby. She wanted to check on Henry. And my mom had called too. I'm pretty sure that when I talked to her this morning I got in trouble for the whole phone problem.

But, I'm blaming it on David. If he hadn't swam with the garage door opener, I wouldn't have had to open the back door, run to the phone and then put in a cooler full of water.

I hate that he doesn't feel well, but he is still getting the blame!!

But I get to see him today and I just can't wait!!!

A funny ps...
This morning Daniel said, "I forgot what David looks like." I told him to go look in the mirror. So, he did. I asked him if he remembered and he smiled and said, "yeah!"

Good Medicine

I got a quick weekend visit from my dear friend, Paige and her little Charlie Kate. Having children makes the visits a lot different, but a lot of fun! I love that Henry and CK will be close in age. They are already a mess together, I can only imagine what it will be like... I love that Paige lives closer now. We are good medicine for each other and we have both been in need of some meds lately. Ha! She is a blessing to me and I think she feels the same about me.

I thought this was too cute not to post. Henry spit up in it and and CK went number two...nothing like a baby pool!

This week I am traveling with my hunky husband. There is nothing I love more than air travel with this man. I know that sounds silly, but it is so true. We have so much fun.

This is where I am sitting and typing. I best get back to enjoying my time here. I will post more when I get back to the "dirty delta".

Just so that you don't forget who the other sister is on this blog, I will give you a random list of my life in the last week!

***Anna decided she can swim without her floaties. She is jumping off the diving board and swimming in the deep end now. Oh, if she would only decide she could do a couple of other things!

***Samuel is getting ready for a ball tournament and boy scout camp. He has a jammed thumb but insists he is fine.

***On our flight to Orlando the TSA checked my checked baggage. While doing so they unzipped my makeup bag and took the lid off of my brand new full can of hairspray. When I got the bag after the flight it reeked of hairspray. The bottle was completely empty after spewing its contents on Stephen's shorts and shirts. His only casual clothes for the trip.

***Somehow my clothes were unharmed but lay right next to his. I had to go buy another can of hairspray

***Yes, we went shopping for some casual clothes.

***I still haven't developed any Disney pictures. But they are all on cd's.

***Next week I get to do some lovin' on a baby boy! I'm so excited!!!

***I got a new pink purse. I love it! My boys hate it!

***I have brown blotches on my jaw line. I'm pretty sure it has to do with age. I'm pretty sure I'm aging. I'm pretty sure I thought I would do it a bit more graceful.

***David is on a drawing kick. He is drawing pictures of wars, farmland, beach scenes, and Fanta ads. He would be glad to sell you one.

***Daniel is sleeping in the bottom bunk with David. I don't know why. You would think there wouldn't be much room on a twin bed for two nine year old boys. But, they love it. And I do too.

***The list is over now. I can't think of anything else. My mind is full of what I need to get ready for the school year (we'll start the first of August), my friends and their struggles, and the rest of mind, I guess, is just empty. Sad, but I think true. The heat has burned up my brain!

Happy Father's Day

Happy day to the fathers of our children and to our sweet ole Daddy!
As you can see, Henry was so excited to celebrate with his Daddy for the first time.

A Few Shots And A Shower

Sweet Henry got his 6 months shots this week. We love his doctor. He is such a blessing to our little family. I am glad he came to our hospital room as the doctor on call when Henry was born, otherwise I would not have known how wonderful he is. We had chosen a different doctor for Henry but I made the switch to him after seeing his bedside manner. I love this picture because it needs no caption!
Our little Daddy with his boy. He met us at the doctor. He is such a sweet little Daddy! Henry and I are about 3 blocks from one another during the week. His doctor's office is right between us. Driving to all 3 places is a little much so I decided we would walk. His daycare director gave me the daycare stroller and insisted I use it. They fixed him a bottle and gave him his blanket. It was so cute watching them pack him up in that little bitty stroller with all his stuff. They then walked me out with him and wished him well with his shots. I think they love him as much as we do....I just love that!

Henry did so good at the doctor. He only cried when he got the shots and I got a little misty eyed myself. This was the first time he was really aware what was happening and felt the pain in a whole new way. Poor little punkin! He was so sleepy when I took him back to daycare, but in true Henry fashion he did not nap very long because it would mean missing out on all his friends. He was asleep for the night at 5:10 and had to be woken up to eat. That's my boy!

I hosted a shower in my office a few hours after Henry's doctor visit. I was a busy girl that day. I even made the cake! I am a party planner at heart, and it is often part of my job too. It is the best part, I think! We had 6 hostesses but I just had them pay me and I did it all. It is also the control freak in me too! It makes me happy.

I loved how it all looked. I told everyone that our office needed to be cleaned so what better excuse to clean...throw a party! We cleaned it the best a marketing office can actually be cleaned and decorated it in the colors the nursery will be in. It turned out so cute, I thought.

Deania is due in less than a month and is having a little boy, Drew. I loved the initial I painted for the cake. She is a precious friend of mine and I am excited about her new addition!
(I thought I loaded a hostess photo, but I must not have. Oh well, you can imagine how cute we looked behind the food table.)

A busy week makes for a tired working mama. I think if I sat real still I might fall over. I am really starting to wonder if my iron is still low or am I just out of shape and over extended? ha.

A Relay for Life kind of weekend

Abby and I both participated in our local Relay for Life events this weekend.

One of us more than the other. But, one of us had a baby six months ago!

Our cub scouts and boy scouts had a RFL team for the first time this year. And somehow I got to be team captain. (I'm pretty sure I won't be asked to do that again!)

Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The event takes place for about 12 hours on a Friday night, until Saturday morning.

I questioned why there was a need to stay up all night when we were adults and very obviously needed our sleep, and was told that one team raised $8000 after midnight Friday night! Unbelievable!!!

I didn't stay all night. Anna, Daniel, David and I left at 12:30. Samuel and Stephen had already gone home. Samuel had a baseball tournament the next day with the first game being played at 9:00am. We all needed our sleep. So we got it. Not much, I got about 4 hours, but it was better than none!!!

Our RFL team didn't raise a lot of money but we surpassed our goal! The Star City Relay for Life event raised $60,000!! Let me just remind you that Star City is a small rural town with one stop light and less than 2500 people. We rocked!!!

And for those of you wondering Samuel's team won 2 games and lost 2 games Saturday. It was a fun day, I enjoy watching him play. Daniel and David finished their baseball season Friday night right as RFL was beginning. They had a good season both at the plate and in the field, with trophies to prove it!

Have you participated in your town's Relay for Life?

1/2 A Year Already

6 months ago today we were bringing this sweet boy home from the hospital. What an exciting 1/2 year this has been for us. He is my biggest blessing. I tell his Daddy not to feel bad about hearing that Henry beat him on the blessing scale these days because without him I would not have this biggest blessing. His Daddy is my biggest love....I love, love, love that man! What an experience this has been as husband and wife, becoming Mama and Daddy. Wow.
This boy is my heart. I tell him that he is Mama's heart, because he is. I feel like my heart was taken and put outside of my body in the form of Henry (I know that sounds cliche, but I mean it). I just love it so much. I can honestly say that I wake up with a smile each morning because of this little love. He always wakes up smiling up at me, so how can I not smile?! He is so full of life and personality. Watch out world... Henry is already making his mark! I love already seeing him blossom into the man God wants him to be. It is truly amazing to have this little life under my watch.
He is a growing so fast. I sometimes wish time would stand still for just a minute. I know I should do the proverbial monthly post all these new mama bloggers do with all the updates on his growth, what he is eating, his favorite toy, etc but I do not have time to do that. I barely had time to post this. Just know he is on target and doing all the things he should be doing at this age! Here's to the rest of the first year...
Happy 6 months, Henry Patton!

An Observation from Disney World

I knew that while we were at Disney World we were going to encounter many different types of people.

My children have only lived in rural towns in Arkansas. We are by no means in a cultural mecca. We usually see people that look like us and talk like us.

At Disney World we walked by and sat next to, many people from different countries that spoke different languages. My children were not impressed with that much at all. I was. I was always trying to figure out what they were saying. I doubt I was ever right.

Something else that was fun for me was to figure out which people were Americans and which ones were from different countries by the way they dressed. It seemed like the women from other countries showed more skin that we traditionally show here. But they wore their clothing with such grace and comfort it didn't seem trashy. But then I would see American women trying to be provocative and it seemed trashy.

Really, is there a need to be provocative at Disney World?

The biggest thing I noticed was the amount of tattoos on people. There were neck tattoos, arm tattoos, leg tattoos, ankle tattoos chest tattoos. Some people had green tattoos, some people went all out and had their entire arms tattooed and colored in. Some had words, dates, pictures of people, artwork, flowers, bugs. I was amazed at the number of people with tattoos. I felt like Rip Van Winkle. Like I had been asleep for years, and woke up without my obligatory tattoo.

I know people with tattoos. I like those people. But I just never realized that in a few years I'm going to be in the minority by not having one.

Do you have a tattoo?

The Pool is Open!

Summer is here!

The pool is open!

You know how I love the pool. This year I wasn't very excited about it. The kids could sense it. Stephen even asked why.

I told him it was because I was fat. He assured me I was no fatter this year than last year. And strangely, it didn't even hurt my feelings. I needed to know that I was just the same as last year. Comforting in a strange way.

It opened Monday and we have been there since.

I have taken my Kindle in a baggie. They have waterproof cases for it, but the reviews I read said that a baggie worked just as good. And I can get a whole box of those for under $2. The case costs like $40.

And yes, I am that cheap. The baggies won!

I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to read it at the pool, but I'm so happy to say that I can!!! This is going to be a great summer!!!

I didn't tell you that Samuel made the all-star team again this year. This is his 5th year in a row to make it. It's hot, but we love it and he does too. Congrats Sam! I'm proud of you!!

So, what are you doing this summer? Pool? Baseball? Staying inside?
