A Tote Of Blessings

Henry and I headed to Memphis this week to see the fam and for me to shop my friend's fall/winter consignment sale at the Agricenter. She is such a peach and lets me in for the first preview sale each season. It is so good to know sweet people...I am blessed by her. I get the first pick with a handful of other parents and it is so much fun! Lots of my old work buddies/friends are there each time and it is like a social outing and a bargain hunt all at once. SCORE! Randall usually goes with me but he was in Indiana this week, so I ventured out alone....while Henry played and ate at the Piccadilly with the fam (I know Wilma ate her veggie plate in heaven smiling down on that meal. Sweet memories at that place). Preparing for this sale is like an all out mission. close family and friends are all wishing me luck...like I am competing in a championship or something. It is serious stuff. I get siked up for days, checking online for costs on things I will be looking for so I can compare...

Food Friday

Couponing is a great way to save money, but it can also be stressful these days with all the games and tricks that go along with it. I am by no means a pro, nor am I a die hard, but I am learning little ways to save. Never do I plan to have a room or shelving unit dedicated to my stockpile, but I do hope to continue to find the best ways to save on the staples in our home because we all know the Sisters are a sucker for a sale. Here are a few tips: In Arkansas the Proctor & Gamble coupons run the first Sunday of the month (except holiday weekends)in the Democrat-Gazette. These are the best coupons. The Red Plum runs about every Sunday in most local papers. You can purchase coupons on Ebay if you wish. Order from people above the Mason Dixson Line because the further north you go, the higher the discount on the coupon. Their groceries cost more, so their coupons are better. You can print coupons on all manufacturers websites. Look up those things you use most. Coupons.com is a grea...

Food Friday

I remember the panic that would overtake my little person when I heard the ice cream van in our neighborhood. It was a race against the sound of the creepy ice cream music to get the dime from Mama and bolt out to the street before the little people passed by our house. Our ice cream van drivers where little people. Until I moved to Memphis and saw an ice cream van, I just assumed they were all little people...I am so naive and such a dork, I know. Anyway, an orange push pop was always my Popsicle of choice from the ice cream van. I found some at Walmart this week and brought them home. It brings back such fun memories and Henry loves to take a few licks. I am finally at that place in life where sharing a Popsicle is actually a joy! It is time for corn on the cob and that makes me so happy. I love finding the happy old man on the side of the highway with the 10 for 1 buck deal, bringing them home, shucking them and putting them in the freezer for later. Grilling them is my favorit...

A Shopping Score!

I went to my local consignment shop the other day and SCORED!! I have been a few times recently and have come back empty handed. Sad, really. Well, we did buy a bed for Samuel there, but I don't count that. It was a bargain, but it was way more money than I normally spend at a consignment store. I had some time to waste before I had to be somewhere so we stopped in at A&E's to shop around. And I'm so glad I did! I got a beautiful plaid Bonnie Jean Christmas dress for Anna, a Tiara Christmas sweater for Anna (that is so very cute. It has reindeer on the front and back. Oh my goodness, cute!), and two pair of leggings and one pair of purple velour pants (because who doesn't need a pair of those for winter!) for her. And a Blue Angels t-shirt for D&D to share. Are you ready for my total? $9.53! 6 items=$9.53! I hit the jackpot that day! I was so excited. I bet you're excited for me, aren't you?! Come on down and I'll take you shopping! It's great fu...

Guess what they have in common

I had intended on posting a picture of an Ole Miss sweatshirt a pair of Old Navy jeans(wide legged, really cute) a red cable knit Duckhead sweater a pair of brown Cole Haan shoes but for some reason, I'm blaming blogger, but it could be my slow internet, it won't post. Anyway, I was going to ask what those 4 things had in common. The answer is (actually 2 answers) they all came from my local resale shop and they all cost $4 or under! If the picture had posted you would have been much more impressed that I got all 4 items for $8. The most expensive item, get this, were the jeans. Not the shoes, they cost $2.00 and look brand new, the label on the inside of the shoe isn't worn at all. Truly amazing. Abby and I talk often about loving a sale, so I thought I would share an example...

We Love Consignment Sales!

In case you didn't know, my big sis and I LOVE a consignment sale...or any sale for that matter! Last night I went to the preview sale of a large consignment sale in Memphis. One of the girls at my work owns this consignment sale. It was amazing! I have done a few of these sales with Jules and love the hunt, the bargain and the fight for survival. Jules had given me a list of specific things she needed for each child. She was on the phone with me as I described the clothes I was flipping through on the rack. It was most fun and it was like she was right there. We are both so cheap, it is funny! I am so glad she trusts me to shop used clothes for her. Aunt Abby will not be buying any trash for her babies, that is for sure! I bought a lot of cute things and spent right under $30! Jules had done most of her shopping already and only needed a few more things to dress them for the Spring/Summer. I can't wait to take my laundry basket ( belt attached for pulling), my bag on wheels an...

Sucker For A Sale

I love a good sale. Today I went and got Easter décor from Kroger & Dollar General on my lunch hour for next to nothing (as if I needed any more!). For those of you that don’t “really” know me….I am my Granny’s child. I love to decorate for the seasons and I go hog wild with it. I even decorate the bathrooms. It is a joke in the family that I decorate with a toilet seat cover at Christmas like Granny. Anyway, my favorite find today was ducks for Anna K’s birthday party. Jules found some on clearance at Wal-Mart yesterday and Mama already bought some last month at Garden Ridge….that child is going to have all kinds of ducks at her little b-day party. Fun times for her! I am BOGOing this weekend for some wedges and may get some Dora sandals for Anna K. as my half off pair. Oh, the sacrifices I make for those loves! You know Anna has to have cheese and crackers every time Dora comes on. Whether it is 9 am, 1 pm, or 7 pm, when she sees Dora she high tails it to the kitchen for her chee...
