The Pool is Open!

Summer is here! The pool is open! You know how I love the pool. This year I wasn't very excited about it. The kids could sense it. Stephen even asked why. I told him it was because I was fat. He assured me I was no fatter this year than last year. And strangely, it didn't even hurt my feelings. I needed to know that I was just the same as last year. Comforting in a strange way. It opened Monday and we have been there since. I have taken my Kindle in a baggie. They have waterproof cases for it, but the reviews I read said that a baggie worked just as good. And I can get a whole box of those for under $2. The case costs like $40. And yes, I am that cheap. The baggies won! I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to read it at the pool, but I'm so happy to say that I can!!! This is going to be a great summer!!! I didn't tell you that Samuel made the all-star team again this year. This is his 5th year in a row to make it. It's hot, but we love it and he does t...

Samuel the All-Star

Samuel is an All-Star once again! A baseball All-Star. This is his 4 th year to compete with an all-star team. He has only been eligible to play on an all-star team for 5 years. So 4 out of 5 isn't bad! Being on an All-Star team is a commitment. A commitment of money and time. We have to pay for new uniforms, tournaments, and travel. That isn't too hard for us. The commitment of time is the hard part for our family. We believe in commitment. We believe in following through, not letting your team down. We also believe in church on Sundays. During all-star baseball our two beliefs clash. Samuel has never played on a Sunday. (Except for 2 weeks ago when he took the field at 12:40AM Sunday morning) The all-star coaches know from the very beginning that Samuel will not play on Sundays. It has been heartbreaking for us to leave on Saturday night knowing that the team would play without him the next day and that it could possibly be the last game of the year. I have shed many tears. ...

A list!

I have many thoughts rambling around in my head. Instead of writing them in some cohesive form I will make a list. Because I don't think I could make them into a cohesive form. ** VBS is this week. This will be night 3 of the week and so far so good. The decorations for VBS stressed me out to the point of fever blisters, acne and sleepless nights. They aren't anywhere close to what they should be or what they have been in years past, but I think VBS will be a success anyway, despite my lack of creative juices. Thank you LD for your help!!!!!!!!!! ** Regular season baseball is over! Can I hear a scream from the crowd?! Samuel made the all-star team once again. So, we are still playing some tournaments. And when I say playing tournaments let me tell you that Sam and I made it in from a game Sunday morning at 2:30. Did you get that? 2:30 in the morning. And the game was just 30 minutes from us. His team took the field at 12:40am. Crazy, but fun! ** I am suffering from pool wit...

We're home!! This post is loaded!

We made it home, all of us, safely. Thank you, God. I never take traveling lightly. I guess since we haven't lived in a town with a Walmart for 13 1/2 of our almost 15 years of marriage and we have had to travel 30 miles one way to get our groceries I have asked God many times to post angels at all sides of our vehicles. I did that again yesterday as Stephen and I traveled by plane to Little Rock, and my children traveled by car there to meet us. We all arrived safely and on time. Because of the 50 pound limit for each piece of luggage, Stephen had to do a little reshuffling of "stuff" to get both bags to weigh less than 50 lbs. Have I ever told you what a great packer he is? I mean truly one of the greatest packers I know. And I only know 2. My mother and Stephen. I received SO many books from the wives luncheon on Tuesday, and we had accumulated magazines, brochures, and just stuff that we were a little nervous that we wouldn't be able to get so much stuff to just...

Sambo is an All-Star Again

Samuel made the all-star baseball team! He is so excited! If he knew I bragged about him here he would surely want me to tell you! Last night David asked when we were going to Uncle Mamaws and Uncle David's. I told him we would go this summer, so be on the look out Longview !!! And yes Abby we will also come visit you! I hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend. My mom is coming to spend the weekend with us. We have no big plans except to go to the bakery at the Village. Oh, my goodness they make some good fried pies, do-nuts(except for those yucky sugar free ones Abby loves!HA!), rolls, brownies, cake, well just anything they make is good. If you ever come to Star City, I will take you to the bakery! Love ya, Jules
