9 Years Of Grins

9 years ago today I said "I do" to my Randall. I always loved this picture. It is in a little frame on my bedside table. It was taken in the brides room after the ceremony. I remember Mama and Mawmaw being afraid we might run off into a broom closet before the reception! We were so excited to finally be married, if you know what I mean! ha. I really like the Aqua Net can in the background the best. All good southern girls use Aqua Net for their 'dos. This is possibly the most priceless photo I have in my album. Because I share this blog with my favorite sister, I thought it was finally time to show this little snapshot of us. I was taking my photos before the ceremony and feared I forgot my deodorant so like any good sister, Jules applied for me. There are too many reasons why I love this girl, just sayin! Wasn't she beautiful in that dress. I loved my wedding. It was perfect. This was our first Christmas card photo. If you are familiar with our annual card, you kno...

Busy-ness

Well, its the end of the school year and busyness has hit!! We have been running all over the place the last few weeks and will be for the next couple of weeks. I must brag on my kids. Now, I know they are 13, 10 & 7 so they should be well-behaved but I have put my children in situations lately that have required them to sit quietly with nothing at all to do and they have made me such a proud Mom! I forget that I have really great kids. I also forget to tell them that they're great. This will serve as a reminder to go and tell them. Tell yours too! I've been helping decorate for a wedding & reception this weekend. Those of you that know me and those that have been to my house are laughing loudly right now and feeling so sorry for the bride. It turns out with someone else on my team I'm not so bad! We've had late nights this week with a couple more to go but the reception is going to look beautiful and the ceremony is, well, it will be just right! Last night betw...

A wedding and a prayer

I went to a wedding this weekend. The bride and groom go to our church, they have a long history together. Many ups and downs, highs and lows. But through everything their love for each other was never squelched. Stephen performed the ceremony, I sat in the sound booth and my children sat on the back row of the church. I couldn't help, as I watched the wedding, listening to the music, watching them exchange vows, but think that in as short as 10 years Stephen and I could be experiencing a wedding from a different point of view. We have four children, we could have four weddings. Thankfully, 3 rehersal dinners and 1 wedding. God is so wise! I cried. Not ugly cried, you know, wedding cried. How is it that the day before I got on to my children so loudly that they were afraid my head may come off when it got through spinning? And today I cried thinking and knowing that we will have to let go of them one day. Not only let go but give them to someone else. I'm praying fo...

No 7 Year Itch Here

My wedding was a beautiful day. I love reflecting on it each year on this day. My dress was one of my most favorite things about the day. I still want to put it on and twirl in it but it won't zip, of course. The dress was fun, simple, comfortable, elegant and had the best story that went with it. Julie and I bought that dress one day while having a little mourning shopping trip in LR after my grandmother died in late Winter 2002. Randall and I had been dating for almost 3 months. No one knew we were trying on dresses and no one would have ever dreamed we were for real going to buy one until we called mother from the store to get her permission. I think Kathy had a mild heart attack and I think everyone in the west and central part of the state heard her yell at me over the phone. She made us fax her a picture of the dress from the store for approval. She then told me (all by phone) that it was my dress. I had to wear it no matter who I married. She then told Julie to take it home...

Anniversary Eve

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY EVE ABBY AND RANDALL!!!!! Tomorrow is Abby and Randall's 7 th wedding anniversary. If I know Abby like ya'll know Abby I'm sure she is figuring out which pictures to show us in honor of this special day. Can you wait? Me either! The day was beautiful. Cold, a bit windy, but beautiful. Abby was beautiful too. But since I am writing this lets talk about me. My hair looked GREAT! Randall's mom is a hair stylist , beautician, hairdresser. You get the picture. Anyway! She did my hair and it was really pretty. Probably the best it had ever looked in my life until that day. If Abby hadn't looked beautiful and been in a pretty white dress (ask her to post the story about buying the wedding dress!) I would have been the prettiest one there. HA! Stephen married them and I was the maid of honor(the married one). I just hate matron of honor, it makes me sound like an old haggard woman with a bun. Samuel was the ring bearer, Randall's dad had to put his ...

Thinking Irish

Ash, Jen & Me headed to the beach St. Patrick's Day makes me think of my friend Ashlea... and our wedding. She LOVES all things Irish. She backpacked in Ireland after her graduation from UCA. I have a Celtic ring I wear from time to time and Irish ankle socks that she bought for me on her trip (ankle socks are my fav!). Anyway, I had so many friends and not enough spots for bridesmaids, when we got married. So, I had my 3 girlfriends from UCA (we were all communication majors) read or sing...I had them communicate! Ashlea read this blessing (below) before we were pronounced husband & wife. I just LOVE it. When I read it I can hear her soft voice and the special way she read it. She and Jenny both read and they read their pieces so wonderfully...not sing songy, but just perfectly. It was most special. (Jenny read Bride to Be after Daddy walked me down the aisle.) May the road rise up to meet you May the wind be always at your back May the rains fall soft upon you and the w...

Thank You Lord, How Could I Ask for more

I believe we both had tears in our eyes...love it! Our Wedding Party Tim, Sarah, Ben, Julie, Me, Randall, Melissa, Rick, Lindsey, Zach, Hollye, Caly, Samuel, Matthew Beginning this journey together I love that song. Our friend Paige played it on the piano and sang it at our wedding. Today I have been married to RWL for 6 years. I am so thankful God gave him to me. He keeps me level (or at least tries), loves me for who I am, reminds me of my dreams and goals when I loose sight of them, provides a wonderful life for me and makes me laugh about simple things. I could go on and on, but today those are the things I am most thankful for. We spent the weekend with friends in north Mississippi and ate lunch with Daddy & Connie on the way home today. Tonight we will do the anniversary tradition - watch our wedding video, look through the two wedding albums, drink a fruity drink through a straw together and laugh at it all. What a full and fun 6 years it has been for us! Abby

Busy with a wedding

I don't know about you, but I have been busy today. We have cleaned out our garage, and attended a wedding, all without changing clothes! Sound fun? You betcha!!! This morning I looked out my bedroom window and saw that one of our neighbors had decorated her backyard for a wedding. I was so excited! I love a wedding! There were chairs, floral arrangements on the trees and little bows on the chain link fence that separates her yard from ours. Stephen and I got a little nervous when we realized that we should have mowed the yard and moved the trampoline and swingset to make the view from the folding chairs prettier. But we didn't know about the wedding and decided not to make a big scene trying to get our yard pretty for it. After all, they hadn't mowed their yard recently either. As the wedding drew near, I would sneak a peak from around our garage (which we were cleaning out). To the decor in the wedding yard, they added 2 candelabras with alternating mint green and royal ...

15 Years Ago Today...

Their journey began. Stephen FINALLY got my sister to marry him! It was such a fun day. I remember dancing, crying and laughing in her bedroom to this awesome 'weddingish'/Julie specific mixed tape Daddy had made at the radio station (Yes, this was before the age of the CD), the morning of her wedding. All 4 of us were together for one last time in our nuclear family unit. It is a very special memory of mine and I am sure it is to her as well. Jules was a beautiful bride....just beautiful! Stephen was a very handsome groom and he even sang to her at the alter. That was super cool. I think we all cried. She moved away on Aug 14, 1993 to begin her new life with Stephen and the two of them could not have been happier about life....and now it is 15 years later and they are still just as happy! The past 15 years have been adventurous for them. They have lived in lots of places and done lots of fun & crazy things. Yet, their greatest accomplishment is the Fab Four! I am so glad G...

Here's to 50 Years, Sassy & Skip!

Right... this is not actually the happy couple. Though, Sassy's hair can do a fab' beehive! Mrs. Carolyn and Skip were married 50 years ago today. Congrats to the two of you lovebirds. You have come along way from the farm. Here's to 50 more! Abby

Congrats Staci & Zach

We went "home" to our cousin Zach's wedding, this past weekend. It was wonderful to get all us Davis/Tilton peeps together for a celebration. It was beautiful and so much fun! Enjoy the slideshow. P.S. Molly Claire is here!!!! (Pics to be posted in a day or so) Our cousin Sarah (..who is in lots of the above pictures. She was the groom's very pregnant sister) had her baby girl this morning. We are so excited! Abby & Julie

Wedding Weekend

Here is a slideshow of our wedding weekend in eastern Arkansas. Rand's cousin, Micah got married and it was such a fun occasion. We went on Friday afternoon to take part in the fun wedding weekend. I am posting a slideshow since there are to many pictures to post! Congrats to Tab & Micah and congrats to Diana for making it through these past few months of planning! Just so you know, we changed clothes at the reception. (In case you are wondering why Rand has on a ball cap and a jacket!) Abby
