Baby Ramblings

Tummy time on the Boppy I love that little mouth Henry stayed with his Daddy for a bit today while I went for a follow up appt at the doctor and to do some shopping. Henry had to sit through a conference call with his Daddy and decided to poo poo his diaper while Daddy was on the call. I would have loved to been a fly on the wall to see how Randall changed it and stayed on the phone without interruption. Henry hates to have a dirty diaper and also hates to have it changed...and usually screams the best he can through the whole event. Randall is a good daddy, so I am sure he did fine. Anyway, It was the first time in 23 days that I had driven or been inside anywhere besides my own home, Randall's truck, the doctor's office or the hospital. Much needed time out today, but I must say this little mama is tired from the outing. I am still recouping from birthing this sweet thing you see posted above this text. The doctor weighed me today and I have already lost 25 pounds. I have ab...

Sneak Peak

Go here so see a sneak peak of Lindsey's photo session with Henry Patton. Precious!

Photo Session with Lindsey

Our dear dear friend Lindsey came to our house today to take Henry's first photos. He did very well. We think he may be a ham...like his Mama! We put him in this generic stocking because we were afraid he would not fit in his handmade stocking. Lindsey took some great pics of it with the fireplace roaring in the background. Melt. My. Heart. Lindsey also got some sweet ones of this shot. I took all these with my camera after she finished her shots. We are so excited about celebrating Christmas with this special little gift and are so thankful Lindsey could come see us and take great pictures of our baby boy. Abby

Online Nursery

Click here to see Henry's hospital photos. You will need to put in December 2nd as his birth date to view. He is pretty cute in these photos...if I must say so myself! Abby

Christmas Cutie

Look at my Christmas baby! He has on his "Silent Night, Yeah Right" t-shirt, Christmas striped pants, red leather shoes and his reindeer hat. His Daddy laughed at his grumpy face and said if he had to wear that, he would be grumpy too. I think he looks most precious. We made our first Christmas memory as a family tonight. We went to the Delta Festival of Lights. We plan to make it a tradition each year. We listened to Christmas music all the way there and all the way home. Henry of course slept through the whole thing, but we had fun. Daddy bought us an ornament that they were selling so we would have our first Christmas outing as a memory on our tree. Here is my Christmas munchkin in his car seat ready to go. He had a big day with his circumcision and a family Christmas outing. I hope he rests well tonight. Now, Aunt Juju , please post something on here so it is not all me! Abby

Our Little Slugger

Last night was our first night in our home as a little family unit. We survived. Mama is a bit tired, but will survive. Henry is happy, so that is all that matters. He is playing with his Daddy in the den right now. He is trying to get him to watch Clifford the Big Red Dog on the TV but Henry keeps staring at the wall. instead. It is quite entertaining to watch his Daddy deal with him. I love it. Sunday we had a group of special visitors. Our Memphis family ( I do not use "memfricia" in this post because my Aunt Babs does hate for me do it in a big way) came to see Henry. This is his Aunt Connie holding him for the first time. Connie is my Dad's wife and she sure is crazy about our baby boy. He was still on the light on Sunday when they came to visit. Aunt Babs, Claire, Hollye and Connie loved on Henry while Grandaddy, Thew, Uncle Joe and Daddy discussed the ways of the world. It was so fun to have all of them meet Henry. He is one loved little boy, for sure. Here is a...

Happy Days In Babyland

This sweet baby is light free! He has also gone through the past 2 nights without a fussy spell. He has gained his birth weight back plus one ounce. He eats like a champ...and he eats really fast. We like to look at him while he eats and say, "you are a little pig aren't you". So cute, he is. He loves his crib. He finally got to sleep in it some yesterday once the light came off. He was so content, still and so sweet lying there in his room. It made Mama and Daddy feel content and still also. He got to put on footed pjs last night. The light caused him to only be able to wear elastic gowns or only a shirt. He was so comfy and cozy looking in his pjs. The feet of his pjs had giraffe faces on them. It was the cutest thing. Wearing those pjs made this Mama smile. It made Daddy smile too because the pjs said, "My Daddy Loves Me". His Nana bought him those, of course. Marmie left yesterday and Nana came. Nana cooked supper and watched Henry while Daddy took Mama on...

Light Boy

Is this not the saddest thing ever?! Our baby boy is jaundice. He has to wear this light until it goes away. His Nana came to visit on Saturday and we got this snapshot. It is quite the undertaking to take care of a 4 day old baby with this contraption on him 24 hours a day. He likes the floor a lot, but we are putting him in the pack n play for the most part. We have him camped out in our den. It is so sad to think his beautiful bed has not been slept in at all. It makes me a bit sad, but I know his well being is most important and we will wear this light as long as we have to. Pray for Henry and for us. It is sort of frustrating at times, as you can imagine. I think how it could be something so much worse than a tint of orange, and for that I am thankful. Henry's Marmie has been here to help us since last Tuesday. She is a God send to us. Having the extra body and the experienced mother to help us in this new, tiring and exciting time in our lives has been much appreciated. I ...

Welcome Home, Henry

After days of recouping in a hospital bed and getting our baby to eat, Henry and I are happy and at home in our own place. It makes us both calmer, happier and healthier. I loved having the help of the nurses at the hospital as I recouped my body and got Henry's belly all cleaned out from mucus build up, yet I am so glad to be at home and introducing our baby boy to our home. Daddy kept up his work and his Daddy duties during our 4 day stay at the hospital. He is such a great multi-tasker. It makes my heart explode to see Randall love this boy as much as he does. His smile is larger and his heart is softer, as though he needed any improvement. I love Henry's Daddy so much more after these past few days. This sweet man labored for 21 hours with me, without a break. I pushed for 3.5 hours with him right there, sweating and crying with me. After almost 7 years of marriage, I love him in a totally new way after this life changing experience. Our baby boy is perfect to me. This i...

Introducing Mr. Henry

Meet our sweet Henry Patton This is our first family photo Randall's grandad...where the Patton comes from Henry meeting his Juju for the first time Grandaddy loves Henry Papa checking out our boy Proud Grandmothers My little family is complete...my boys make my heart melt. Notice Randall's "New Dad" shirt. All the nurses up here want him to put Henry's foot prints on it. So cute!

A Very Pregnant Thanksgiving

I look forward to starting my Thanksgiving watching the parade in my den....and watching Ace as he flies through. It is truly one of my most favorite things and evokes excitement in me each year. Randall has bought a coffee cake and pulled sausage balls out of the freezer for breakfast. It should be a great and comfy time as we sit here in our PJ's for hours enjoying the parade. I will then enjoy Thanksgiving lunch made by my mother-in-law and delivered to me this past Sunday. She brought us ham, dressing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, corn and a pie (which Rand has already eaten). I will take out one of my homemade pies in the freezer and we will enjoy that pie instead. The bedrest and sciatic nerve pain is about to do me in. We were planning on heading to Randall's aunt's house for lunch tomorrow (1 hour away) but Randall thinks that the mass of people and car ride will shut me down for a few days. I love the people and the car ride but at this point it is not ...

Preparation

Enough with all the posts about Abby's preparations for Henry. Enough with the monthly pictures of her belly, Enough with the pictures of Henry's room. Enough with pictures of all the gifts and showers. Enough. Lets talk about me and how I'm preparing for Henry. I have recently had my hair colored and cut for his arrival. I have acquired a new set of hot rollers(because I loved the 80's!!) and am sure to woo this little bundle with my beautiful, straight brown hair. I'm hoping he falls in love with its texture and style. It is so unlike his mothers that I just know he will be aching to feel it and look at it so often that his parents will have to bring him to see me!! I have also been plucking my eyebrows. Oh, the pain and agony that causes. But for Henry it is worth it. The last time I got them waxed the girl did a great job and they have been pretty easy to keep up with. I really don't want Henry to think I have mustaches or caterpillars above my eyes the fir...

9 Months

9 Months I can't believe this is the last pregnancy shot. It seems like I just started taking them. I am so glad that it is the last one. I can't imagine getting any larger than this! Whew, I am worn out from carrying this baby boy on my little, short frame, yet loving the experience. This month I am so puffy and just plain uncomfortable. I feel like a whale of a girl most of the time, but I hear that is just part of the fun! I love walking into stores and people looking at me like I have a third head because of my bellly and my walk. I am now walking like those poor pregnant women you see and think " why the heck is she out and about"...I now understand and will not be quick to judge. Life goes on....we have to keep plugging along, pregnant walk or not. I am now measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule, but I hear that can be normal. I am going to the doctor each week now and that makes it so much more fun, I think. Randall is finishing harvesting today in Alabama ...

Christmastime is Here

Yes, it is early, but I am in panic mode with the baby coming. I told Mama that one would think I was preparing to die the way I am making final preparations and such. So funny. I love going home to my festive home each night. It helps me to relax and that is much needed in these last days. This is our den. We did not put the tree in here last year but this year I modified everything because I knew with Henry here it would be a lot different for us. This is the living room. This is where the tree was last year. Henry's Nana gave us her tree that looks just like the one in our den so I could have two. This year it was too big of an undertaking to put up two full trees. I hope to have that one in front of this window next year. We will cross our fingers with a one year old in the house. Maybe he can go to Nana's that day! This is the other side of the living room. I have acquired a collection of alpine trees at yard sales and after Christmas sales. I created a little forest her...

Henry's Room

First of all, how precious are those twin nephews of mine for praying for Henry like they do! My aunt heart swells with pride over those fabulous 4 kiddos. I can't imagine my mama heart if my aunt heart stays this full all the time. Wow! His Nana did such a wonderful job on his bedding, pillows and curtains. His Daddy did a fine job on the cling above his bed and his Mama and "Aunt Z" (Lindsey) did an artistic job on his canvases. The toy chest in front of the window is already filling up with fun toys and his drawers are filling up with cute things. The picture frames are waiting on photos of his sweet little face. This is Henry's closet and book shelf. His Daddy still has doorknobs to put on his doors. We painted the letters on his wall and filled his bookshelf up with all kinds of fun gifts, family heirlooms and his Daddy's miniature tractors. We are counting down the days until we get to see our little Henry Patton in this precious room of his. I can't...

The Workplace Shower

My friends and coworkers were kind enough to give us a shower this past week. They went way out of their way to celebrate Henry with us. It was a fun time to visit after work and open fun baby gifts. The shower was extra special because Jules and Anna came to town for it and spent the night with us. I was so proud she made it to one of my showers. It meant a lot to have Henry's Juju there with me....and Anna too! This was our final shower. We feel so blessed to have all we need to create a nice and fun environment for our baby boy. The Shower Hosts - These are the great people I work with everyday in the marketing department. The Cake - They knew I loved this saying and had the cake made to match it. It was as tasty as it was cute. I had no idea how puffy and swollen I was in these pictures until today. Little did I know I would be in a hospital gown 24 hours later because of it. Mercy. Henry's Aunt Juju and cousin Anna Kathryn. We are still the only girls. Yay ! Anna g...
