Light Boy

Is this not the saddest thing ever?! Our baby boy is jaundice. He has to wear this light until it goes away. His Nana came to visit on Saturday and we got this snapshot. It is quite the undertaking to take care of a 4 day old baby with this contraption on him 24 hours a day.
He likes the floor a lot, but we are putting him in the pack n play for the most part. We have him camped out in our den. It is so sad to think his beautiful bed has not been slept in at all. It makes me a bit sad, but I know his well being is most important and we will wear this light as long as we have to. Pray for Henry and for us. It is sort of frustrating at times, as you can imagine. I think how it could be something so much worse than a tint of orange, and for that I am thankful.

Henry's Marmie has been here to help us since last Tuesday. She is a God send to us. Having the extra body and the experienced mother to help us in this new, tiring and exciting time in our lives has been much appreciated. I have loved having my Mama in the house with me as I recoup from the pains of labor. She goes home Tuesday afternoon and I know it will be a tough goodbye for all of us. I know Juju and Nana now want a turn and we are ready....come on over!
Also...any tips on how to get our sweet son to sleep at night? He is dead to the world during the day and is wide awake and fussy at night. Any helpful hints are mucho, mucho appreciated!

I have never seen a light like that. My daughter was jaundiced too. We had to take her to be checked several times and it is horrible how they do that. They had told me if it didn't clear up they would put her in the hospital under a light. Now on to sleep. One of the most important things is for them to learn the difference between day and night. During the day when they nap. Don't try to be too quiet. Run your dishwasher or vacuum. Let him learn to sleep around noise. At night time it has to be really quiet. That helped us. I also played with her so much during the day to try to get her to sleep at night. When she got older, she got a little rice cereal in her bottle. This filled her tummy and she was so happy she slept longer. This phase won't last long. He will be sleeping all night in no time.

I have been viewing all of the photos in the past four or five postings on this blog and I am so blessed with five beautiful grandchildren. I am also blessed with two beautiful and Godly daughters who are raising those five (along with their fine husbands) in the way of the Lord.
It doesn't get much better than that. I am indeed blessed. Julie and Abby are indeed blessed.
They know it and thank God every day for what they have.
I'm just glad my little buddy Henry was born without my help. LOL. I can assure you that Samuel, David, Daniel, and Anna all feel the same way. Ha !

Little Henry,

You are absolutely darling... and so are your mom and dad! Can't wait to personally hold you and squeeze you... I'll be the aunt that squeezes your sweet little cheeks! Abby and Randall... hang in there, the first few weeks are rough but they DO get better! Henry is lucky to have you!

Meet Shaun

This is my single co-worker and church friend, Shaun. He and I have so much fun bantering back and forth. He takes what I dish out and scoops it right back up and hands it back to me.
