A Big Buck

Daniel scored the first big buck of the family. We are so proud...but not near as proud as he is. Look at that smile!

Turkey Times-South

This was taken right after we ate Thanksgiving dinner at my house Thursday. We were stuffed! We had so much food. I went a little overboard on veggies this year. It seemed a bit gluttonous, but we're eating it every meal until its gone! HA! When I was cooking Thursday morning. Really I was just managing the over, everything had been prepared on Wednesday. Anyway... I asked everyone if we were dressing for dinner. I laughed as I looked at my motley looking crew, no one had on matching clothes, a couple had shorts on. But a little while later here walks in Daniel with a polo and khaki pants on. I was so pleased. What a sweet boy. Then Anna came in dressed in a cute little outfit she put together herself. Then Samuel came in with khaki's, a dress shirt, tie and a sportcoat that was a few sizes too small. I went and put on my clothes and even some pearls. It was Thanksgiving after all. My other two boys didn't feel the need to get dressed for dinner, but we allowed them in th...

Really?

I do not understand why men desire getting up at 4:30 in the morning to go wade around in water to kills birds, especially when it is freezing outside. Then, they try to be so quiet that they are actually loud. When they pull out of the drive the rest of the house is wide awake and not appreciating the birds, nor the hunter. I love my hunter and the excitement he gets over a flying peasant, yet the love of the hunt baffles my mind...my very tired mind. Abby

Its Official-my boys are hunters

Samuel killed his first deer today. He named it Molly.(I'm sorry to the real Molly and Molly Claire.) I'm not sure why he named it that. Stephen killed a deer on Saturday. I'm afraid that my freezer will be packed full of deer meat all winter. GROSS!!!!!! David and Daniel are still waiting for their first deer. I'm hoping(for their sakes) it comes soon. But I really don't want any more deer meat in the freezer. I will have to give it away. I am wondering how I got to this point in my life. I was raised a city girl. I loved the mall, 2 high schools in my hometown, 4 jr highs, a choice of grocery stores, movie theaters, bowling alleys, and skating rinks and there was not a gun, real or toy, to be found in my home. I am now in a town with one high school, 1 grocery store, no movie, bowling or skating and I can't keep count of the number of guns, real or toy, that can be found in my home. How did I get here? Oh yes, I remember! God sent me here. To serve Him, to lo...

You Know You're A Redneck When...

I was sitting here tonight thinking about my chore tomorrow afternoon and thought "You know you're a redneck when you trade a cooler of duck for a cooler of deer." Yep, that is what the mother-in-law and I will be doing tomorrow afternoon when I get off of work. Tonight I have made room in the deep freezer for a doe and picked out some good looking duck for her freezer. Oh, the joys of marrying a hunter! Love it. Abby

"Grunt Up A Big'n"

...This saying has been a great inside joke between Rand's Uncle Tim and me since our first meeting five years ago and today he grunt up a sad little doe. This is the first time I have ever seen a dead deer up close and personal. Gross! This is Tim with his sad little Doe Abby
