What I lack in athletic talent, I'm off the chart in good sense.

Oh, for the love of the game. Can we not just let kids play ball when they are little and not try to shape them into who we wanted to be and never were? I'm just sayin....I could easily fall into that trap with my child because I was never the best at anything physical, but thankfully I don't engage in such behavior because what I lack in athletic talent, I'm off the chart in good sense. Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs on earth. I mean, if you want to do it it right and with all your might. Watching your kid struggle and succeed all in the same breath is an experience like none other and cannot be expressed with words really. Moms just know and have this look they give each other that basically says "yep, I see your baby. shine on, mama." Henry and his best buddy (2017) My son has the character that many grown men could only wish to have. He has done well accepting the fruit basket the Holy Spirit has given him (aka- fruits of the spirit) ...except...

For the love of the game!

Henry has been so excited about being on a Tball team this year. We were picked to be on the Astros. They are orange and that's Henrys favorite color right now. Our best neighbor friend was picked to be on the team too. We started practicing weeks in advance of our first game and the boys (and 1 girl) had a blast working on their skills and developing a friendship with each other. Watching them get better with each practice was great fun for the mamas and daddys.  Our little team started winning and winning big each game. At the moment I write this we are still undefeated. We are the only undefeated team in the league. It's exciting but it's not right.  We have 5 year olds on our team. There are 3 or 4 players who are naturally gifted and are practiced with often at home. They of course get put in the key spots on the field. We do not have that player in our home but we have one who loves to play, wants to learn and succeed. When the team gets ahead (look at scoreboard in t...

A Relay for Life kind of weekend

Abby and I both participated in our local Relay for Life events this weekend. One of us more than the other. But, one of us had a baby six months ago! Our cub scouts and boy scouts had a RFL team for the first time this year. And somehow I got to be team captain. (I'm pretty sure I won't be asked to do that again!) Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The event takes place for about 12 hours on a Friday night, until Saturday morning. I questioned why there was a need to stay up all night when we were adults and very obviously needed our sleep, and was told that one team raised $8000 after midnight Friday night! Unbelievable!!! I didn't stay all night. Anna, Daniel, David and I left at 12:30. Samuel and Stephen had already gone home. Samuel had a baseball tournament the next day with the first game being played at 9:00am. We all needed our sleep. So we got it. Not much, I got about 4 hours, but it was better than none!!! Our RFL team didn't ...

The Pool is Open!

Summer is here! The pool is open! You know how I love the pool. This year I wasn't very excited about it. The kids could sense it. Stephen even asked why. I told him it was because I was fat. He assured me I was no fatter this year than last year. And strangely, it didn't even hurt my feelings. I needed to know that I was just the same as last year. Comforting in a strange way. It opened Monday and we have been there since. I have taken my Kindle in a baggie. They have waterproof cases for it, but the reviews I read said that a baggie worked just as good. And I can get a whole box of those for under $2. The case costs like $40. And yes, I am that cheap. The baggies won! I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to read it at the pool, but I'm so happy to say that I can!!! This is going to be a great summer!!! I didn't tell you that Samuel made the all-star team again this year. This is his 5th year in a row to make it. It's hot, but we love it and he does t...
