Life with my sister

There are dates on the calendar that bring back memories. Sure Dec. 25, Feb. 14, Aug. 8 and Aug. 14 are dates that bring back memories. But there are those other dates that when I look at my calendar and see them my heart leaps with joy at the memories, or it falls to the pit of my stomach. This week is a mixture of both. My first date was on Oct. 31. I was a sophomore in high school (& way to young to date), a senior asked me out, and because of his good reputation, and to save me huge embarrassment , my parents let me go. I was so excited. And nervous. Before I could go on my date I had to take my 7 year old sister trick-or-treating. Sounds harmless, but it wasn't. Abby was dressed as a cross between Tina Turner and Cyndi Lauper . Oh, it was just bad, but she loved it. I wish I had a picture. I was hoping to get back so I could hide her before my date showed up but wouldn't you know he was early & I was on time and he saw her. Abby. She is such a joy to have in my life. She has always been a bundle of energy, full of life and fun. We are the complete opposite of each other in personality. I remember making her ask sales clerks questions for me when she was 8 & 9 years old. I was too embarrassed to, and she was more than happy to do it for me. I still ask her to be my voice at times. She does such a good job. She is my best friend. My confidante. My protector. My sister. I'm so glad God saw fit to put her in my life. Although I questioned Him at times, He knew just what I needed in a sister! HA! Happy Birthday Abby Jo. I love you so much. I hope today is fun and celebrates you. Love you!!!

Aren't we just the cutest things?!! I took this with MY camera. And posted it here on the blog. Truly 2011 is going to be a banner year! I was trying to decide what to write about today and remembered this cute picture and decided to blog about sisters. While I was preparing part of supper I was thinking of Abby. We don't get to talk ear to ear much. For reasons that are out of our control we only get to text each other most of the time. Sadly, I can go a week without hearing her cute voice on the other end of my phone. Its a good thing we get each other's text humor!! While I was thinking of all of this, she was calling me. But since I wasn't at my desk I didn't notice that my phone was vibrating. When I saw that she called, it just made me sick that I had missed the opportunity to get to talk to her. Happy 9 th Birthday Claire!!! We love you so much and hope you have the happiest of birthdays today! Claire is our cousin Hollye's daughter (and Matthews! LOL !). She was the only cousin my boys had for quite a while. Well, really until Henry appears. We think she is awesome!! Abby has a doctors appointment today. We are praying that the doctor will give her a day to deliver Henry that is soon. Not the 12 th . But sometime this week. Today would be great, but we aren't laying bets on it! HA! We'll let you know what she finds out. She is still in pain and is wheeling herself around in a desk chair. Oh, I so hope Randall has video of that! If he does I'll have to let ya'll see it! As you know Abby was sent home on Tuesday for bedrest . It seems her blood pressure was high. She went home Tuesday like a good girl and rested. And then Wednesday happened.... Her tooth hurt. BAD!!!! She has had tooth trouble for quite a while now and has made many visits to the dentists office. Well, she had to go back to the dentist yesterday for some more dental work so that the tooth wouldn't give her any more pain. She did this all by herself, while she was supposed to be on bedrest . What a girl! Then last night happened! She woke up in great pain around 1:00am and called the dentist at home! The call woke him from a deep sleep and he was rude to her and hung up. He called right back, apologized for being rude saying that he had been in a deep sleep and that he would meet her at the office in 10 minutes.
