Random thoughts

Just a few random thoughts. (just between us, random thoughts are much easier for me then writing-don't tell Abby) Our mom is in Montreal. I'm so hoping she picks up a cute French phrase to teach the kids! There is a cat stuck in one of our pine trees. No, it is not ours! Apparently it has been up there since sometime in the night (it is now 4:00 Wed afternoon.) She won't come down, so if you have any hints on how to get a cat down please let me know! Last night's style show went really well. The models did an excellent job. They were all beautiful, and did such a good job of walking, or strutting , down the runway. Thank you for your prayers. I spoke on being beautiful on the outside, but having ugliness(like bitterness, anger, grief, etc.) on the inside. And how God wants to exchange the ugly for beauty. I'm praying my message got across and didn't sound preachy or like I was better than anyone. I found out that when I am speaking to a group of people and all ...

Playing catch up

Today I am taking the boys to spend the weekend with my dad. We are meeting half-way(well, almost half-way.) They are going to go to their first Ole Miss football game EVER! Samuel is so excited. David and Daniel aren't as excited. The are just glad to be going and spending time with Grandaddy and Ms. Connie. I will tell you that David took a book to last weeks Star City High football game-AND READ IT! I have asked him to please not take a book with him to the Ole Miss game, there is no reason to give Grandaddy a heart attack right there in the stands. I will run and pick them up Sunday after church, then run to Little Rock to pick up my Duck Duck Goose consignment sale check, and run back home to go to church for our second revival service. Sounds like fun, except that everytime I said run in that sentence it means an hour and a half. Yes, I will be guzzling some gas Sunday! Wednesday's post was all about me. I wrote about the car accident I had while pregnant with Samuel. ...

Somethin' to think about

My deodorant expires Jan 10, 2039. Are you kidding me? 2039? I will be 68 years old when it expires. I'm thinking about not using it anymore and just keeping it around until 2039 to see what happens to it. And such an exact date, not just January 2039, but January 10, 2039. So, if any of ya'll are still around then, I'll try to remember to tell you what happened to my deodorant . Will it blow up, will it dry out, will it emit an odor akin to body odor? Lets just pray Jesus comes before my deodorant expires! Julie

Back down Memory Lane

I remember when I was a little girl, old enough to know better, but not smart enough to do anything about it. I was spending the night at Mamaw and Papaw's house, it was one of my favorite things to do. Scene: I don't know where Papaw was this particular evening but Mamaw was on the phone and I was taking a bath. While in the bathtub I found her razor and decided that I wanted to use it. So I did, and yes, you know what happened! I cut my leg good!!! I cried (probably screamed) and Mamaw had to get off the phone and settle me down, clean me up, and dry me off. She took care of me, loved me and decided that I had learned a big enough lesson about razors that I didn't get in to much trouble. Fast forward 30-33 years Scene: I am sitting on the couch trying to be still so my back doesn't hurt so bad and I hear Anna ( in the bathtub) talking to David (who had gone in to see her). Anna: Go get mom please. David: What? this was all very calm Anna: Go get mom please. I go in...

Monday musings on a Tuesday!

**I'm not doing very well on my goal of reading non-fiction books. It turns out I just don't like them much. **Last Sunday night Stephens phone rang while he was preaching! Too funny! **As I was growing up and would visit my Grandad's church it always seemed that my grandmother knew all the word to the hymns. I desired then as a 10-12 year old to know all the words to all the hymns sung in church. I would like to tell you that after being a ministers wife for almost 15 years and a Christian for almost 30 years(is that possible?) I hardly need a hymnal anymore(or for those of you who look at a screen-at a screen). One goal pretty much accomplished. **The kids and I went to the Goodwill store in Conway and loved it! What a great store if you like used clothes. I bought curtains with a valance, books, 2 hats(for crazy hat night at Awana-1 of them is Mickey Mouse ears), a pair of shorts for me for $12! Wow what a bargain! **My kids are actually learning how to add, subtract and...
