9 Years Of Grins

9 years ago today I said "I do" to my Randall. I always loved this picture. It is in a little frame on my bedside table. It was taken in the brides room after the ceremony. I remember Mama and Mawmaw being afraid we might run off into a broom closet before the reception! We were so excited to finally be married, if you know what I mean! ha. I really like the Aqua Net can in the background the best. All good southern girls use Aqua Net for their 'dos. This is possibly the most priceless photo I have in my album. Because I share this blog with my favorite sister, I thought it was finally time to show this little snapshot of us. I was taking my photos before the ceremony and feared I forgot my deodorant so like any good sister, Jules applied for me. There are too many reasons why I love this girl, just sayin! Wasn't she beautiful in that dress. I loved my wedding. It was perfect. This was our first Christmas card photo. If you are familiar with our annual card, you kno...

It's Been A Decade

10 years ago tonight I looked into Randall's blue eyes for the first time at the back door of my cousin Hollye's home in Memphis. A blind date set up by Julie and my mother-in-love (click here for Julie's refelction on the arrangement). For that date I am forever grateful. I did not want to go, thought my sister had lost her mind and was crushing on another boy. Boy, boy, boy...did I ever change my course when I looked into those blue eyes standing at Hollye's backdoor! (The night of our engagement) Well I lost my heart on the day we met But I gained a lot that I don't regret (one of our favorite engagement photos) Then I hung around til you said 'I do' Knew I wouldn't have nothin if I didn't have youWell, it changed my thinking when you changed your name Neither one of us will ever be the same And I swear I'm never gonna be untrue Cuz I wouldn't have nothing if I didn't have you (5 year anniversary in Cancun) If I didn't have you I...

Anniversary's and Books

August is not only my birthday month it is also my anniversary month. Yesterday Stephen and I celebrated our 18 th wedding anniversary! We didn't do anything special. We went to church, ate lunch, I went to the pool he took a nap, we went back to church and came home. The end! We had planned on going out to eat sometime over the weekend or even today, but things happened and going out to dinner was not one of them. You know how that is, don't you? School is going good. We have finished up day 4 and no one is worse for the wear. (Where did that phrase come from?)The pool is closed during the week now, so I anticipate getting fall & winter clothes out for a consignment sale I always participate in and cleaning the house. Going to the pool every afternoon didn't do anything good for the house! She has suffered quite a bit this summer. David set a goal at the beginning of the year to read 100 books before the end of the year. Well, he did it! Some of the books ...

The Great Eight

"I have found the one whom my soul loves" Song of Solomon 3:4 Eight years ago today I married the only man I have ever given my heart to (besides Jesus, of course). I feel incredibly blessed to have only loved one man. There were many years I waited impatiently on my man, and thought the wise women in my life were full of bologna when they told me God was sparing my heart for one wonderful catch. Indeed, they were right. The best part about the whole deal is that I am also the only woman he has ever loved. So, I'm extra incredibly blessed to have this sweet man's whole heart without any missing pieces. I laugh at how things have changed in our eight years. From our tiny little one bedroom apartment in East Memphis, to our first house in Byhalia, to our current home in Jonesboro where we have started our family, love has been the theme in all these special places over the past eight years. In these eight years we have been through many career moves, vehicles, magazine...

A Short Story- Lost

I have been looking all over for a cute story I wrote about Stephen and I meeting, dating, falling in love and getting married. I started writing it weeks ago so that it would be ready to post for our anniversary. And now I've lost it. Just the story. I haven't lost my mind. Yet. It was real cute. It started off telling about how the first time I remember him he was riding his bike down my street, stopped and asked me to "go with him" ( and I knew he didn't mean go riding bikes down the street!), I said no, and he left. I was twelve. I told a few cute stories of other romances we both had and watched from the sidelines. How we decided to hang out together one summer. Probably out of sheer loneliness, boredom and embarrassment of being alone and bored. And how our friendship deepened. We learned about each other, we laughed, I cried (because I'm a girl, and its what we do), we had fun times. And then he went back to his girlfriend at school. Surely she knew som...

Anniversary Eve

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY EVE ABBY AND RANDALL!!!!! Tomorrow is Abby and Randall's 7 th wedding anniversary. If I know Abby like ya'll know Abby I'm sure she is figuring out which pictures to show us in honor of this special day. Can you wait? Me either! The day was beautiful. Cold, a bit windy, but beautiful. Abby was beautiful too. But since I am writing this lets talk about me. My hair looked GREAT! Randall's mom is a hair stylist , beautician, hairdresser. You get the picture. Anyway! She did my hair and it was really pretty. Probably the best it had ever looked in my life until that day. If Abby hadn't looked beautiful and been in a pretty white dress (ask her to post the story about buying the wedding dress!) I would have been the prettiest one there. HA! Stephen married them and I was the maid of honor(the married one). I just hate matron of honor, it makes me sound like an old haggard woman with a bun. Samuel was the ring bearer, Randall's dad had to put his ...

24 Years Ago Today...

These 2 lovebirds got hitched We had big hats, cake and champagne (not the children, of course) And we were all so thrilled that these 2 fell in love! Happy 24th Anniversary Mawmaw & UD We love you!

It All Started In The Bathroom

So sorry about the picture quality. I need to work with my scanner just a bit more. We have just endured, lovingly, The Week of Love, with Abby and Randall. What Abby failed to mention was my part of the whole relationship. So, I will take this opportunity to let you know my part of the story. The picture above was Moving Day 2001. Samuel was 4, and the twins were 6 months. No one was happy about having to get up and move to a new house this day. God had guided us through a most difficult time and we were looking forward to starting a new adventure in a new place. Stephen had been called to be Pastor at a church in Augusta. This was his first pastorate. He had been in the ministry for 8 years but had never been the Sr. Pastor. We met many people and everyone made us feel welcome. A lady wanted to help me repaint and wallpaper some rooms in the house. I was all for that! So, we named a day and time and set out to paint the bathroom. As we were both in the bathtub trying to sand and get ...

Thank You Lord, How Could I Ask for more

I believe we both had tears in our eyes...love it! Our Wedding Party Tim, Sarah, Ben, Julie, Me, Randall, Melissa, Rick, Lindsey, Zach, Hollye, Caly, Samuel, Matthew Beginning this journey together I love that song. Our friend Paige played it on the piano and sang it at our wedding. Today I have been married to RWL for 6 years. I am so thankful God gave him to me. He keeps me level (or at least tries), loves me for who I am, reminds me of my dreams and goals when I loose sight of them, provides a wonderful life for me and makes me laugh about simple things. I could go on and on, but today those are the things I am most thankful for. We spent the weekend with friends in north Mississippi and ate lunch with Daddy & Connie on the way home today. Tonight we will do the anniversary tradition - watch our wedding video, look through the two wedding albums, drink a fruity drink through a straw together and laugh at it all. What a full and fun 6 years it has been for us! Abby
