A Zoo Christmas

We went to Zoo Lights in Memphis the other night after work. We decided at lunch that day that it was a good night to take Henry, so off we went. We love Memphis. It is where we fell in love. We tried to tell Henry about it as we drove over the "new" bridge on the way to the zoo. It was dark so the bridge and all of downtown was aglow. Henry looked out of his window, smiled, waved and said "Hi Mepis" and quickly turned back to his "Beggie Bales" video. Randall and I went to Zoo Lights in our previous life....before H and before we moved to Arkansas. We always build it up to be bigger than it is and every year we go to it we find ourselves saying "is this it?!". That is how traditions are though I think. Last year Henry was not having any of it. In fact, we took a photo at this same spot last year and it was the beginning of a major melt down. We were so proud of him this time. He did not cry all night. He is such a big boy! He wanted to run and ...

Zoo Fun

We took this little curly headed cutie to the Memphis Zoo the other day. He loved the farm animals a lot. I think because most of his animal toys make farm animal sounds, so he was familiar with them. He called the donkey "mama", but he called the gorilla "daddy", so that made it all better! Henry and his daddy were admiring the ducks in this photo. I am not sure they were admiring them the way the zoo intended....admiring them from a duck hunters prospective, of course. Henry loved taking in all the sights and smells of the zoo while riding the Once Upon A Farm train. Henry loved getting out of the stroller and running his daddy all over the place. It was truly too cute. "moo!" He was looking at the cow and saying, "moo". It was not as cool as we anticipated that day, and this poor little fella got hot in his stroller, but he was a trooper. He loved looking at all the animals and soaking up all the other children around him. We had so m...

A Trip to the Zoo

We were invited to attend a preview of Penguin Pointe at the Little Rock Zoo. Friday morning was cloudy and cool but we were determined to see the peguins. And they were so cute! The Little Rock Zoo is now home to 11 African Black-Footed Penguins. They are an endangered species and now have a great place to live. These penguins aren't as tall as the Emperor Penguins that we are more familiar with. They are shorter and, if possible, cuter. We were there when they first came outside. These penguins appreciate warm weather and it wasn't warm on this day! But soon they began swimming and having a good time. We watched them for probably 45 minutes. The kids loved it! The exhibit opens to the public this Saturday at 10:00. Be there! You won't be disappointed. And go see the giraffes and lions in the morning while you're there. I guess we usually go to the zoo in the afternoon and the animals are tired. But Friday morning they were moving around and playing. It was our best z...
