Zoo Fun

We took this little curly headed cutie to the Memphis Zoo the other day. He loved the farm animals a lot. I think because most of his animal toys make farm animal sounds, so he was familiar with them. He called the donkey "mama", but he called the gorilla "daddy", so that made it all better! Henry and his daddy were admiring the ducks in this photo. I am not sure they were admiring them the way the zoo intended....admiring them from a duck hunters prospective, of course. Henry loved taking in all the sights and smells of the zoo while riding the Once Upon A Farm train. Henry loved getting out of the stroller and running his daddy all over the place. It was truly too cute. "moo!" He was looking at the cow and saying, "moo". It was not as cool as we anticipated that day, and this poor little fella got hot in his stroller, but he was a trooper. He loved looking at all the animals and soaking up all the other children around him. We had so m...

4 Legged Namesake

Abby Ann in her prime, sunning at the lake Abby Ann and Abby Jo sunning at the lake I was told that Randall had a dog named Abby, and for that I was none to happy about our blind date, over 9 years ago. I soon learned that the dog had become pretty partial to his mother and she had "custody" of her, so I accepted it and fell in love with him anyway. There were many confusing visits to his mother's home. When she would yell "Abby" real loud, I always jumped, regardless of how many times I heard it, I jumped. It was truly odd. Abby was old and had lost an eye, been run over by a pick-up truck, and a plethora of other things had happened to her, so yesterday she ended her good fight with life and went on to doggie heaven. I am not one who gets attached to animals, nor one who owns any pets of my own, but it sort of made me sad to see that old, big red headed tennis ball loving dog die. Rest in peace Abby Ann! Abby

Nature Baby

Well, it looks like the Sisters have been soaking up some of God's creation this past week! Henry had his first visit to the Nature Center. We are fortunate to live across the street from our local state park and the Nature Center. I have visited the Center several times, but never with my sweet little Henry. We met up with some friends and had a big time! Henry loved soaking it all up. He ran from window to window, exhibit to exhibit and then he found the stairs and he was then forced to discover all his new surroundings from my hip! He screamed, he was so excited! I love watching him explore new things. It makes me feel so blessed at moments like these to have had this extra time with him these past nine months. Watching him woo the "snake man" into letting him touch the king snake was priceless. In this photo he has just touched it and was very proud of himself. He loved the "snake man" and wanted him to pick him up real bad. I was not so crazy about the ...

A Trip to the Zoo

We were invited to attend a preview of Penguin Pointe at the Little Rock Zoo. Friday morning was cloudy and cool but we were determined to see the peguins. And they were so cute! The Little Rock Zoo is now home to 11 African Black-Footed Penguins. They are an endangered species and now have a great place to live. These penguins aren't as tall as the Emperor Penguins that we are more familiar with. They are shorter and, if possible, cuter. We were there when they first came outside. These penguins appreciate warm weather and it wasn't warm on this day! But soon they began swimming and having a good time. We watched them for probably 45 minutes. The kids loved it! The exhibit opens to the public this Saturday at 10:00. Be there! You won't be disappointed. And go see the giraffes and lions in the morning while you're there. I guess we usually go to the zoo in the afternoon and the animals are tired. But Friday morning they were moving around and playing. It was our best z...
