He Is Risen and He Is Lord!

Holy, Holy Is He

Singing Blessing and Honor...

I absolutely adore this song. My hands go up in my vehicle and I am really surprised the speakers have not blown up! I can't wait to buy the CD when it is released next week. Phillips, Craig and Dean is by far my favorite Christian group. Their pure sound makes my soul sing. Enjoy! Abby

Setting Fire To The Rain In Shame

My Henry knows most all the words to this song. He belts it out in this funny, graspy voice and throws a fit when it is over and begs for me to play it again. Randall played it in the den the other night because he had not witnessed Henry's performance and had to hear it for himself. He was shocked, stunned and tried not to laugh. I did laugh. I wish I had videoed Henry's performance. He was twirling around the room and belting it out. I think our jaws were on the floor watching him. Santa put the CD in my stocking so I blame it on him. Up to this point we have played Praise Baby and Sunday School Song CDS in my car. Santa made me go secular! Henry knows words to so many hymns and Bible songs it is amazing, but now he knows Adele and that is just plain wrong! I know she won 6 Grammy's but I am not thrilled that my little sponge gets in the car and yells "I want fire rain!" and kicks until I turn it to track 5. Oh me...back to Praise Baby ASAP. Shame on this litt...

Rewind

"I can see the fingerprints of God when I look at you. I can see the fingerprints of God, and I know it's true. You're a masterpiece that all creation quietly applauds and you're covered with the fingerprints of God. Never has there been and never again will there be another you, fashioned by God's hand and perfectly planned to be just who you are, and what He's been creating since the first beat of your heart is a living, breathing priceless work of art. Just look at you you're a wonder in the making and God's not through in fact, He's just getting started!" I love that song by SCC. He always has the best lyrics. I found these pictures from Henry's first year of life tonight while getting some things off of my external hard drive. Such sweet memories of my little munchkin boy. What a blessing his life is. I pray he becomes a man of God who desires to be a hard-working, loving and devoted husband and father. I think it is never too early t...

It's Ho Ho Ho Time

Just because.....

This IS Christmas

This song makes my insides smile. I think the feeling this song evokes is truly Christmas. This past week I was able to meet the sweet person that is lending Julie's family a home as they transition into their new ministry. She moved to my town with her husband, who also serves the Lord in ministry. I hunted her down and went to her work with a plant in one hand and a card in another. She had no idea who I was and I had no idea who she was. I only knew her name. No one knew I was going and I had no idea where I was going. I just felt the urge to go, so I did. It is amazing how the love of Jesus suddenly bonds two people in just a simple introduction. She cried, I cried, we hugged, we laughed and we shared our love for my sister. I tear up typing this. It is such a comfort to know that there are good, Godly people who listen and obey, and step out on a limb to help those who are suffering for the kingdom. I am not in the ministry. I have a sister who is and I had grandparents who we...

Let Go Caroling...Again

Last year I posted this link to some of my favorite Christmas songs. I suggest you go to that link and enjoy the tunes. Here is David Phelps singing O Holy Night... I adore his version. I just love the music of this festive season! Abby

Come Awake, Come Awake

The other day Henry and I were driving home from Bill's Fresh Market on a road near our home that goes through a cemetery, when this song came on in our car right at the chorus "come awake, come awake...." It gave me chills, a huge smile, and I do admit one hand came off the wheel because the spirit was moving in the Maxima! The sunroof was open with the sun beaming in and the breeze was perfect. I love little moments like that more than big moments sometimes, don't you?! I take great delight in being able to worship the one true God while driving home from the grocery store! Abby

A Gift in Song

I'm sure I've mentioned before that I love to lie in bed in the mornings. Most mornings Stephen wakes up before me and then tries to wake me up by talking to me, tickling me, or just irritating me until I open my eyes and look at him. It is our routine. This morning he woke me up by telling me he bought me something. My interest was peaked, so I opened my eyes to see what my gift was. These days in the Beavers household gifts aren't always something that can be held in your hand. Most of the time the gifts are downloads. This was the case today. A download of this Jamie Grace song . He thought he was downloading a song by another artist that I like but instead it was Jamie Grace. I don't know Jamie Grace but this song was the free itunes download yesterday. And it is really good. Its a love song to Jesus, what more could you ask for?! My favorite part is when, I think its Toby Mac, says the word Lub for love. I. Lub . It. Have a good day ya'll and download the so...

The Sister Bond

Aren't we just the cutest things?!! I took this with MY camera. And posted it here on the blog. Truly 2011 is going to be a banner year! I was trying to decide what to write about today and remembered this cute picture and decided to blog about sisters. While I was preparing part of supper I was thinking of Abby. We don't get to talk ear to ear much. For reasons that are out of our control we only get to text each other most of the time. Sadly, I can go a week without hearing her cute voice on the other end of my phone. Its a good thing we get each other's text humor!! While I was thinking of all of this, she was calling me. But since I wasn't at my desk I didn't notice that my phone was vibrating. When I saw that she called, it just made me sick that I had missed the opportunity to get to talk to her. She called to tell me she had heard a song that I love. One Touch by Nicole C. Mullen . Have you heard it? Its on her Sharecroppers Seed cd and it is an awesome song...

Let's Go Caroling

I always loved caroling as a child. I miss it. I am like most of you, I love Christmas music. All kinds. Growing up in church and school choirs, I learned a lot of different songs of the season. It brings back so many neat memories to hear the holiday music on the cable access channel (yes, I am lame. But I like it), Randall's satellite radio, the local radio station that plays Christmas music all the time and the CD's I have in my car CD changer. Each year a few songs stand out to me. Ever year those songs are different than the year before. I decided to share a few of them with you in this post. I could have added much more than this but decided that this was plenty! These are the ones I am listening to a lot this year, for whatever reason. I love this!! Makes me cry. A lady in our church sang it Sunday before last and it made me tear up there too. Such an amazing story. After 33 Christmases, I never get tired of the story of Jesus. Each year has its own nugget of truth and w...
I cannot get enough of this song. When it comes on the radio in my car it is a wonder the Maxima does not go soaring in the air! Poor Henry goes to booming in the backseat. I turn it up and belt it out. I sometimes find my hands leaving the wheel. "Filled with wonder, awestruck wonder at the mention of your name..." I am just so thankful that we serve a merciful and risen Lord, aren't you?! Abby

My Purpose Remains

"A thousand times I've failed Still your mercy remains And should I stumble again Still I'm caught in your grace Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame My heart and my soul, I give You control Consume me from the inside out Lord Let justice and praise, become my embrace To love You from the inside out Your will above all else, my purpose remains The art of losing myself in bringing you praise Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise From the inside out, O my soul cries out" When I fail at the tasks put in front of me, when I stumble in my walk, when I fall flat on my face from pride, when I let others influence me and their judgements consume me, when all else fades I am reminded that He is Everlasting and that is all that truly matters. Thank you Jesus for never letting your light fade in me, for letting your purpose remain in me and for giving m...

Raising a Praise Baby

That is my heart's cry for Henry. I want him to love Jesus early in life and I plan to encourage that anyway I can. Tonight I orderd this for Henry and I am so excited about it! We listened to the sample songs on the computer tonight before we ordered it and it made my heart so happy. I think Henry will love watching it. He has noticed the TV this past week and he loves music. Should be fun. I then saw this and HAD to order it for our car rides. The list of songs made me giggle with excitement for Henry. I can't wait for him to hide all these little songs in his heart and sing them to his baby when he is 31! I plan to put these in his Easter basket...if I can wait that long to open them. I think I am more excited about this than Henry will ever be! ha. Abby

Baby, Put Your Records On...

Tonight we decided we need a "theme song" for our baby. Not knowing if it is a boy or a girl for 2 more weeks, we picked a fun song for each and a sweet song for each. I do think Baby L loves the "devil music" because it is the first time I have felt it move and it moved like crazy. So funny! I promise to shelter its little ears from all this "trash" but for now it is fun. Girl Song - I have always thought of me dancing with my baby girl to this song and singing it to her and making her laugh. LOVE IT! Boy Song - Baby Daddy loves the words to this song and hopes that if it is a boy he will be simple like him. So funny and so sweet. I loved listening to Cheri Keaggy in high school and in college. When I had to sing at church I always sang her songs because they suited my voice well. I just love these 2 songs she wrote about her daughter and son: Girl Song Boy Song (excuse the beginning of this video) 2 weeks from today we will know what songs we will be ...

Secret Ambition

Easter is not Easter without jamming out to this favorite Michael W. Smith oldie but goodie. The video was always my most favorite. In fact, I somehow have it on a VHS tape. I think my sister is to thank for that. I have all kinds of Michael English, SCC, Amy Grant and Smitty videos on VHS. Great memories. Anyway, enjoy this video as you celebrate this amazing week. Abby

Open Skies

This morning I was finishing up my run and this song came on my ipod. I have heard it a zillion times, but this morning it was rather refreshing. It IS so wonderful to be here now. I hope your Friday feels wonderful! Abby

Luka Lead me to Tom's Dinner...Love It!

Julie, all I have to say is, Susanne Vega. I love being the weird younger sister, really I do. Yes, I still know ALL the words to Toms' Diner. Is this not so sad?! I remember singing Tom's Diner on the bus in junior high on the way back from ballgames. The girls were always amazed I knew every word. I am still amazed at it at age 30! I have not heard the song since Junior High, I am sure. Funny. I am making a play list on YouTube and found Susanne. What a fun trip down memory lane. Abby

Being Me

Tonight I decided it was time to make up my guest bed, after Mama's stay over the weekend. I keep a memo board in my guest room and fill it with pictures of whomever is visiting us. This past weekend I had pictures from this summer at Zach's wedding, of all us Davis gals. As I got the room back in order tonight I looked at all those sweet faces and started singing this song. This song was playing the day I left Mama to go to UCA. We had lived quite the life in my 9 month leave of absence from college. I remember crying so hard that day as I pulled out from her work, that I almost drove off the road. Every time I hear it I cry a little. I love that woman. I do thank God for allowing me the opportunity to see so many of most favorite faces this fall. He always knows just what I need. Molly is coming back next weekend and I am most excited to have her here again. I then get to go to Memphis to see all my sweet peoples for my Uncle's retirement party. Then Lindsey comes to visi...
