"Be Our Guest, Be Our Guest..."

I love being a hostess. I like to think I am a hostess with the mostess...at least that is what my mama tells me and we all know mama's blow wind in their babies sails. I will run with it though...I like it!
I love overnight guests. Well, I actually love all guests. Yet, the ones who choose to rest with us get the pleasure of signing our guest book during their stay. It sits on the bedside table in our guest room. My sweet sister made this for me Christmas 2007. It was signed once in my Mississippi home by her family and then moved to my home here in Arkansas. It has been signed a lot since then and I love it. I have had several of my dearest friends laugh at me about my book when prompted to take some quiet time and write in it...and then my sister harasses me in it each time she stays. It makes me laugh. I love the story it tells. My Mama uses it as a journal when she is here and writes down all we do during the day and then tells me how wonderful I am, etc. Anyway, there are many of you reading this who are due an overnight stay and have a page waiting on you in the book. Reservations are now open...

I also have a memo board...a zebra memo board. It screams "Abby Jo" and I like a loud welcome. (I tried to blur the photos for a bit of privacy here, but it just looks bad now...oh well) I take photos of special memories of the person or family who is visiting us for the night. This particular board is set up for a stay that my Mama and Aunt J had with us. It was a fun board to do because I was able to mix lots of people on the board. I like to see people's response to the board when they get settled in their room for the night. It always brings a smile. I like my guests to know they are loved, appreciated and always welcome.

What fun things do you do to welcome people into your home?

I also have a guest book. I think I started the guest book because I always felt special signing it at Jan Taylor's home. It's been sitting in a drawer for the past 2 years, though. Many people have come and gone and never been recorded. I need to get it back out and put it upstairs in the guest quarters.

I do love the picture board idea! I might have to invest.

I love that idea! I don't do
anything neat like that for guests. I think I should.

All Aboard The Birthday Polar Express

Can you believe Henry Patton will be 4 years old tomorrow?! Neither can we. We celebrated his birthday last weekend with his first all boy party, polar express style. I had so much fun preparing for it, as you can probably tell! My mother who is never at a loss for words said it looked like Polar Express threw up in my house. She was SO right and we loved it! We had a breakfast pajama party with 7 three and four year old boys. It was such a fun time.   I had his pajamas monogrammed with a train and his name. He loved them and I liked how they sort of looked like the ones on the movie. Henry loved all the bells I had everywhere. There is no doubt we believe at this house. We had the jingle loud and proud!   I had his invitation made from a shop on Etsy and I was very pleased with them. One of his little friends came to the door ready for me to punch his ticket. It was so cute. I ran to get a hole punch and punched it for him. Every good party has to have go

Meet Shaun

This is my single co-worker and church friend, Shaun. He and I have so much fun bantering back and forth. He takes what I dish out and scoops it right back up and hands it back to me. He is a keeper for that and many other reasons, which I will share on this post. He was kind enough to allow me to highlight him on Kelly’s Korner http://www.kellyskornerblog.com/ for her singles link up. His last words to me about this were, “ This better not be an embarrassment! ” I trust I will do my best to make it not be, but I make no promises! The first thing you need to know about Shaun is that he loves Jesus and the Boston Red Sox . He asked Jesus into his heart at age 8 and is still seeking and serving him today at age 26. Shaun graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in digital media and design. When he is not busy creating masterpieces for our customers he is hiking, watching the Red Sox , playing basketball, horsing around at the lake or beach, and watching movies. He is fu

What A Year

This time last year we began our journey back to God's country . It has been a fun filled , fast paced year. Randall started his job in March . I quit mine in May and became a desperate housewife until July . We sold our house in June and bought our new home in August. We remodeled the new house all fall and put in many hours at work . We celebrated in our home for Thanksgiving and at Christmastime with new friends and family . Here we are in this place , thanking God for his provision and many blessings . Last year if you would have told me I would be this happy , I would have cried bitter tears . Now, I catch myself crying tears of joy . Wow, how this ole world turns ! I look back at our "We have Moved" card and we look scared . I look at our Christmas card and we look tired and overwhelmed . I look at us now and we look comfortable and in our element . I will cherish this journey , always. *the red words link to previous posts from the past year. Abby
