Our Little Big 1

The last monthly picture...what a guy! Those photos got harder and harder each month. What a fun memory to have in his baby book though.

We were so excited to throw our baby boy a party to celebrate his big 1!

We even decorated the Christmas decorations on the porch in honor of our birthday boy!

The mantle and hearth tree were in full birthday mode. We also had a little slide show running on the TV.

The kitchen was party central. I had so much fun making everything, with the help of my graphics pal, Leslie. She designed the banners, invitation and hats for me. I then printed them and made them all, and the goodie bags. I also made the cakes, cupcakes and cake balls. The cookies on a stick were made by the ever-so-talented, Amy C. of the Fort. It was such a fun undertaking!

I painted the ones for both cakes.

Posing with our birthday boy in clothing that matched the theme. Randall is such a sweet man to allow me to go overboard with my party planning. Bless him.

Henry loved his blue vanilla cake. He was very laid back about it. He was not sure about everyone lined up against the wall staring at him while he ate his cake. I am sure that had to be a bit odd for him.

He got excited when Grandaddy and Marmie tried to take some of his cake. Cake then starting flying and landing on the floor. Fun, fun.
He loved opening presents. He was also unsure about this activity, but enjoyed seeing what was under all the wrappings.

The fun than begin with all our little loves fighting over the toys. Henry gives up easily. I laughed at how he basically gave his toys away and refused to fight for them. I am sure that will change, but I am glad he seems to share so well!

We were so grateful for all the family and friends who drove a long way to celebrate our birthday boy.

The birthday boy pooped out after it was over. He did so well during his party. We were so proud of him. We gave him 2 naps that morning to prepare him...it worked!
His Juju came the night before with 3 of the Fab 4 and spent the night with us. We had a big time!

The party was over and the real world was back in full swing when Henry had to go to the doctor for his 1 year shots. He was such a trooper. I was so glad his Daddy was with us to help wrestle him with the help of our sweet nurse. I am not good at that, so much. I have other strengths and abilities in the mothering department. He is in the 80th percentile in overall growth and just perfect! We feel blessed beyond measure to have such a happy and healthy 1 year old!
What a year!!

WOW! You did an AWESOME job on the decorations! I think you should open your own party decorating business. Seriously. Everything looked FABULOUS right down to the cake.
Also - H's highchair is gorgeous. Did you have it made?

Thank you, girls!
Amanda, the highchair was my cousins. We painted it black to match our kitchen and covered it with the same fabric that is on our dining room chairs. It is a fun little highchair!

A Blind Date & Leaving Comments

8 years ago today I met this sweet man in the picture above. We met on a blind date in the Bluff City (aka- Memfrica). He and I were simply going out to shut up his stepmother and my sister, who had decided that we were meant to be together from one simple fridge photo and a dog named Abby. Little did we know they would be able to pat themselves on the back for the rest of their lives . I am so glad we both agreed to go out for that one date on New Years Eve 2001 because I have had him in my life everyday since that crazy night at my cousin Hollye's back door when he arrived to pick me up to find a baby on my hip that he thought was mine. I remember those beautiful blue eyes and how they about popped out of his head as he stood at the door wondering why no one had mentioned my child. That baby on my hip was Claire. She was 1 then and had just gone number 2 in her diaper right before he rang the bell. She had Styrofoam all over her and me from playing in Christmas boxes. Needless t

All Aboard The Birthday Polar Express

Can you believe Henry Patton will be 4 years old tomorrow?! Neither can we. We celebrated his birthday last weekend with his first all boy party, polar express style. I had so much fun preparing for it, as you can probably tell! My mother who is never at a loss for words said it looked like Polar Express threw up in my house. She was SO right and we loved it! We had a breakfast pajama party with 7 three and four year old boys. It was such a fun time.   I had his pajamas monogrammed with a train and his name. He loved them and I liked how they sort of looked like the ones on the movie. Henry loved all the bells I had everywhere. There is no doubt we believe at this house. We had the jingle loud and proud!   I had his invitation made from a shop on Etsy and I was very pleased with them. One of his little friends came to the door ready for me to punch his ticket. It was so cute. I ran to get a hole punch and punched it for him. Every good party has to have go
