Robeez, Belly Bands, Saltines & My Soap Box

I heart Robeez shoes. I found a fabulous deal on some at a resale shop in Twinkle Town last month. It was my first and only purchase at this point for Baby L. I got 2 for a girl and 1 for a boy. I will resale what I don't need and make more money off of them! This picture is not of any of the ones I purchased. Mine are way cuter....I cheated and used Google images for this post.
I purchased one of these belly bands last weekend. I must say I do not heart it at all. It is to be used in the in between stage....when your pants won't button! I wore it with jeans last weekend and it made me feel uneasy knowing it was all unbuttoned and partially unzipped. I feared it would creep down and my jeans would fall off. I tried it yesterday with some dress pants and I fought it rolling down on me all day. I am throwing in the towel on this joker. I will resort to dresses until I can fill out maternity pants. (Oh, I wore my maternity denim skirt to dinner last night and it is WAY cute. Thanks Mama!)

If I have to eat another saltine to numb my aching belly I may scream and then gag a a little. The thought of eating a saltine again makes me a little nauseated. I have been through 1.5 boxes in the past month. I have a sleeve in a zip lock bag sitting on my desk, one in my purse and one in the fridge. Typing about this is even making me a little ill. So much for helping, huh?!

As for the soap box:
Don't tell pregnant women horror stories of child birth and surely don't tell them they will "not make it as a mother" if they can't handle clutter. Yes, I actually had a "friend" tell me that I will "never make it as a mother" and then laughed at me with a devilish grin on her face. Really? Let's not go there. At least my kids will get to school on time and have dinner on the table. BAM! Yep, I can play this ugly game too. Don't mess with a pregnant woman who is high on hormones and low on rest. I have heard it all just this week and I am about to scream at the next person who wishes to tell me how bad this is going to be or how horrible of a mother I will be because I like an orderly house. Hello, people - use your brain before you speak. Anyway, I know lots of orderly mothers who are precious to their kids and Michelle Duggar wouldn't keep popping them out if childbirth was so bad. Ahhh, I feel better now and I am so glad none of you have been the cause of my soap box. You are most supportive....thanks!

The hormones are raging I see....You think you have heard horror storys. just wait until the end and you will believe some of them...no really, it isn't so bad, just real different from what you are accustomed to...

I love you lots...You will be a good mother..Don't pay any attention to those people that tell you those things. They are just talking. They don't know YOU..
Try lemon drops in the purse and at the desk. I found them to be extrememly helpful on the advice of another friend. As for the bedside, it was always crackers.

Oh, and what you can and cannot handle after childbirth are two very different things. You'll be a great mom!

Try a rubberband on the pants. That is what I did with my first pregnancy. With my second, my body adjusted a little faster, and there was no time for the rubberband on the pants. Too many people will try to give advice, you will live and learn (and that is the fun part, figuring out for yourselves). Believe me, it will all work out great!!!

Sounds like you need to be hanging out with a few OCD moms....My compulsion to orderliness has created one in my kids also. THey don't like a dirty house at all. Even when their toys are a mess, they are in an orderly mess. I believe in you -- you can create neat children - it is POSSIBLE! (spoken from experience)

Abby. you will be a GREAT Mother. Do not listen to people who are mean. My house was spotless when my kids were little, their clothes were clean and neat and they did not walk around with crusty noses and dirty faces. Love ya. Claudia

Julie told me about that mean comment this weekend. I told her "Good for you!" for standing up to them. I can relate with people saying dumb things. I am an adoptive mom and people don't use their head on that one either. You'll be a great mom. I have five kids and still manage to keep my house clean, so I feel sure one won't create that big of a problem for you. :)

People have time for what they choose to make a priority. A tidy house is at the top of your list now and will be post baby...you will get it done. People say the same thing to me about my "projects"...they don't know HOW I get it all done. I get it done because I love it and it's important to me. Now, my house on the other hand... ;)

i agree with sarah. whoever said that you won't make it as a mom if you don't like clutter obviously has a cluttered home and is trying to make herself better about it. (if i make neatness sound like a bad thing, i don't feel bad about my clutter.) see how that works? do not listen to her! you could have just as easily told her "you're not going to make it as a mom because your home is an accident waiting to happen." :) toe-may-toe / toe-mah-toe. you're gonna make a great mom!!!!

A Blind Date & Leaving Comments

8 years ago today I met this sweet man in the picture above. We met on a blind date in the Bluff City (aka- Memfrica). He and I were simply going out to shut up his stepmother and my sister, who had decided that we were meant to be together from one simple fridge photo and a dog named Abby. Little did we know they would be able to pat themselves on the back for the rest of their lives . I am so glad we both agreed to go out for that one date on New Years Eve 2001 because I have had him in my life everyday since that crazy night at my cousin Hollye's back door when he arrived to pick me up to find a baby on my hip that he thought was mine. I remember those beautiful blue eyes and how they about popped out of his head as he stood at the door wondering why no one had mentioned my child. That baby on my hip was Claire. She was 1 then and had just gone number 2 in her diaper right before he rang the bell. She had Styrofoam all over her and me from playing in Christmas boxes. Needless t

All Aboard The Birthday Polar Express

Can you believe Henry Patton will be 4 years old tomorrow?! Neither can we. We celebrated his birthday last weekend with his first all boy party, polar express style. I had so much fun preparing for it, as you can probably tell! My mother who is never at a loss for words said it looked like Polar Express threw up in my house. She was SO right and we loved it! We had a breakfast pajama party with 7 three and four year old boys. It was such a fun time.   I had his pajamas monogrammed with a train and his name. He loved them and I liked how they sort of looked like the ones on the movie. Henry loved all the bells I had everywhere. There is no doubt we believe at this house. We had the jingle loud and proud!   I had his invitation made from a shop on Etsy and I was very pleased with them. One of his little friends came to the door ready for me to punch his ticket. It was so cute. I ran to get a hole punch and punched it for him. Every good party has to have go

Pedicure Pledge

Just a friendly reminder, it's that time of the year again. Please raise your big toes and repeat after me: As a member of the Sandal Sisterhood, I pledge to follow The Rules when I wear sandals and other open-toe shoes: I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps. I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free. I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe. I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow. I will shave the hairs off my big toe. I won't wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there. If a strap breaks, I won't duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back in to place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it. No matter how much it hurts. I will
