Traveling Man,Woman and Child

The man and woman traveled together

They met up with all the man's work people

They missed the child

Last week Randall and I traveled to Minnesota for a company retreat. It was a nice change of pace. It was our first time to travel together without Henry. I willed him over to Juju for the week, after he had a brief stay with his Nana. I am so glad we have such sweet family who love our boy and take any opportunity to keep him for us. Sweetness.

Juju met us and handed over the baby boy. It was a struggle to have her give him up, but she did it and we were so very glad to see his sweet face. He heard our voices and went crazy. It was precious. Juju is a good second Mama. I willed her to him as I boarded the itty-bitty plane that took us to our little resort town in Minnesota. It sort of freaked me out so I texted her and said "Raise him well and tell him we love him!" ha.

After we got Henry loaded in the truck we headed to the Fort to see Marmie and the gang! Henry loved having his Marmie feed him Hawaiian Delight for the first time. She and Henry are quite the pair. He looks so much like her side of the family. They have an instant bond. I love it.

We got to eat dinner at TBEO's new house. It is so pretty. I always love a good visit with my Aunt J and Uncle Mike. He is crazy about babies and loved seeing Henry. A dose of hometown family is always nice for this west Arkansas girl. (I may live in NEA but that is not where my heart is. ha!)

A trip to the Fort is not complete without a little time with this ole gal. She is my forever BFF. Melissa and I had not yet introduced Luke and Henry to each other. It was so cute and I am so glad we got this picture. We drove over to her house and hung out in her yard for a while and we all have the mosquito bites to prove it. It was worth it, I say! I love this girl like family. She and I have been through it all and know each other better than we like to admit. ha!

We had to introduce Henry to the historical section of the Fort. A ride on the cannon was a must. I have a photo of me riding this cannon when I was a senior in high school, but I can assure you it it is not near as cute and innocent as this snapshot is!

Henry and his Daddy under the gallows at Judge Parker's Courthouse. Many men were killed at this exact spot. Sort of freaky and sort of cool at the same time.

My sweet baby boy at his great-grandfather's grave site at the national cemetery in the Fort. I wanted to take him there and get this photo and I am so glad it turned out like it did. I love his expression and how reserved he acted/looked while at the cemetery. It was like he knew. My Pawpaw in the Army and a POW in WWII. He was a Godly and hard working man who died 4 days after my 5th birthday. I only knew him for a short time but his legacy lives on in me. My little boy looks just like him!

And here he is....Joe Cool in a real pool for the first time. I took him to Melissa's parents pool and he loved it. I promised him that I would take him back before Summer's end. His Juju bought him the little float. It was darling!

We are now back at home and getting into the normal swing of things...whatever "normal" is these days. Henry loves playing with his stuffed loon we brought him from Minnesota. It is their state bird and you know how his Daddy loves anything that has wings! My little Arkansas baby is proud to be back in his own bed and with his Mama and Daddy. He loved all the kisses and visits from all his friends and family. We are so blessed.
So, what fun things have you been up to?

Those are great pictures. I bet it was fun having a trip with just you and your hubby. Glad you have family that Henry can stay with. I also bet it is good to be home.

Very touching photo of Henry at Joe's grave. Glad you got to take him. It will be special to him when he is old enough to understand.

Where was your resort in Minnesota?? There are some really neat ones up there around the all the lakes. Made me kind of "homesick" for the Land of 10,000 Lakes! Glad you had a great time. Loved the picture of Henry at your grandpa's grave. Your Henry is very precious!

A Blind Date & Leaving Comments

8 years ago today I met this sweet man in the picture above. We met on a blind date in the Bluff City (aka- Memfrica). He and I were simply going out to shut up his stepmother and my sister, who had decided that we were meant to be together from one simple fridge photo and a dog named Abby. Little did we know they would be able to pat themselves on the back for the rest of their lives . I am so glad we both agreed to go out for that one date on New Years Eve 2001 because I have had him in my life everyday since that crazy night at my cousin Hollye's back door when he arrived to pick me up to find a baby on my hip that he thought was mine. I remember those beautiful blue eyes and how they about popped out of his head as he stood at the door wondering why no one had mentioned my child. That baby on my hip was Claire. She was 1 then and had just gone number 2 in her diaper right before he rang the bell. She had Styrofoam all over her and me from playing in Christmas boxes. Needless t

All Aboard The Birthday Polar Express

Can you believe Henry Patton will be 4 years old tomorrow?! Neither can we. We celebrated his birthday last weekend with his first all boy party, polar express style. I had so much fun preparing for it, as you can probably tell! My mother who is never at a loss for words said it looked like Polar Express threw up in my house. She was SO right and we loved it! We had a breakfast pajama party with 7 three and four year old boys. It was such a fun time.   I had his pajamas monogrammed with a train and his name. He loved them and I liked how they sort of looked like the ones on the movie. Henry loved all the bells I had everywhere. There is no doubt we believe at this house. We had the jingle loud and proud!   I had his invitation made from a shop on Etsy and I was very pleased with them. One of his little friends came to the door ready for me to punch his ticket. It was so cute. I ran to get a hole punch and punched it for him. Every good party has to have go

Pedicure Pledge

Just a friendly reminder, it's that time of the year again. Please raise your big toes and repeat after me: As a member of the Sandal Sisterhood, I pledge to follow The Rules when I wear sandals and other open-toe shoes: I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps. I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free. I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe. I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow. I will shave the hairs off my big toe. I won't wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there. If a strap breaks, I won't duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back in to place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it. No matter how much it hurts. I will
