Mountain Climbers

Rand smiling at the view
All proud of my hike-up-a-mountain self!

Rand and I walked up Sugar Loaf Mountain at Greers Ferry Lake yesterday. We have jet skied, tubed, cruised and attempted water skiing all along the base of this mountain. I thought it was time we hike it to the top. His Mom and the others with us thought we were nuts and asked us if we had left something at the top we just had to go and retrieve! It was a trek, but we reached the summit after much debate over getting to the top. Once we got to the top it was worth all the effort. God’s wonders are so amazing! A deer ran past us, an eagle flew by us and many squirrels frolicked around us. We got a birdseye view of the lake and it was beautiful. I thought of the lyrics to this SCC song all the way through our hike yesterday while reflecting on life these past few years. It was what my friend Joyce calls an, “AHH-HA” moment.

I want to build a house up on this mountain
Way up high where the peaceful waters flow
To quench my thirsty soul
Up on the mountain
My faith is strengthened by all that I see
You make it easy for me to believe up on the mountain
Oh, up on the mountain
I would love to live up on this mountain
And keep the pain of living life so far away
But I know I can't stay
Up on the mountain
I said I'd go, Lord, wherever You lead
For where You are is where I most want to be
And I can tell we're headed for the valley
My faith is strengthened by all that I've seen
So Lord help me remember what You've shown me
Up on the mountain You bring me up here on this mountain
For me to rest and learn and grow
I see the truth up on the mountain
And I carry it to the world far below
So as I go down to the valley
Knowing that You will go with me
This is my prayer, Lord Help me to remember what You've shown me
Up on the mountain
I cherish these times up on the mountain
But I can leave this place because I know
Someday You'll take me home to live forever
Up on the mountain

P.S. I spoke with Jules at lunch today. She was “convening” at the convention. She and the fam went to a Ranger’s game on Saturday night on their way to San Antonio. They plan to go to the Alamo on Friday. She really loves going to the convention every year and gets such awesome freebies at the pastor’s wives luncheon. I really wish my hubby was a pastor on that day and that day only. Ha!

All Aboard The Birthday Polar Express

Can you believe Henry Patton will be 4 years old tomorrow?! Neither can we. We celebrated his birthday last weekend with his first all boy party, polar express style. I had so much fun preparing for it, as you can probably tell! My mother who is never at a loss for words said it looked like Polar Express threw up in my house. She was SO right and we loved it! We had a breakfast pajama party with 7 three and four year old boys. It was such a fun time.   I had his pajamas monogrammed with a train and his name. He loved them and I liked how they sort of looked like the ones on the movie. Henry loved all the bells I had everywhere. There is no doubt we believe at this house. We had the jingle loud and proud!   I had his invitation made from a shop on Etsy and I was very pleased with them. One of his little friends came to the door ready for me to punch his ticket. It was so cute. I ran to get a hole punch and punched it for him. Every good p...

Meet Shaun

This is my single co-worker and church friend, Shaun. He and I have so much fun bantering back and forth. He takes what I dish out and scoops it right back up and hands it back to me. He is a keeper for that and many other reasons, which I will share on this post. He was kind enough to allow me to highlight him on Kelly’s Korner http://www.kellyskornerblog.com/ for her singles link up. His last words to me about this were, “ This better not be an embarrassment! ” I trust I will do my best to make it not be, but I make no promises! The first thing you need to know about Shaun is that he loves Jesus and the Boston Red Sox . He asked Jesus into his heart at age 8 and is still seeking and serving him today at age 26. Shaun graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in digital media and design. When he is not busy creating masterpieces for our customers he is hiking, watching the Red Sox , playing basketball, horsing around at the lake or beach, and watching movies. He is fu...
