SFC-Julie's take

Abby's post about Christmas with Dad's side of the family was really sweet.

The pictures, the sweet things she said about my children. Priceless really.

So, this should be nothing like what you've already read! HA!

On our way to Dad's we got a call that one of our sweet church ladies had just hours to live. We discussed all of us quickly turning around and coming home, Stephen leaving us at Dad's and him going home without us, or all of us staying. We decided to do the latter. It seemed sensible and we knew she was surrounded by loving children and grandchildren that all knew the Lord and would help each other through the difficult day. We kept in contact with the family and friends through out the day. She died the next morning and we came home shortly after.

That is always such a tough call. Last year Stephen missed SFC because of a death in our church. We know it comes with the calling and we don't mind. We will miss Mrs. Fish and the love she showed to so many.

So, we got to Dad's and spent time with just our little family. Well, our expanding little family. I really don't know who all was there, I just know that there were sausage balls and Henry.
He was so cute and soft and sweet and smelled so good. He almost called me Mama, but Abby grabbed him before he would say it to me. She is SOO jealous! LOL!!

I did have to share him with Ashley though. Thank heavens JP didn't want to hold him, I would have had to be rude and tell him NO! I let Ashley have him for just a bit, you know just to be nice (LOL!), and then I grabbed that sweet thing back!

We had bar-b-que from Leonards. Of course. I don't think Daddy knows that there are any other bar-b-que places in the Memphis area!

And then everyone else came! So fun! Aunt Babs(who Abby took NO pictures of), Uncle Joe, Matthew, Hollye and Claire.

I hadn't seen any of them since June and it was so good to hug their necks and see what the girls were wearing. I just love their clothes!

So does Anna. She gets Claire's hand-me-downs and we love it! Love. It.

We exchanged presents. Opening them one at a time(except Stephen who showed his rebellious streak and didn't obey Aunt Babs), and oohing and ahhing over what everyone got. I love that about Christmas.

I know families that don't exchange gifts anymore. I'm so glad we are not one of those. I love to exchange gifts. I love to shop, pick out just the right thing and I love to open a present and see what someone lovingly (or hurriedly) picked out for me.

Everyone left, sadly I couldn't hide Henry from his parents. I bet one of these days they are beating down my door trying to get me to keep him. And you can bet they will only have to beat once, and I will gladly take that sweet little thing!

We woke up the next morning and went shopping with Dad and Connie. Anna got her ears pierced, Daniel got his Converse high tops, Stephen got his dress shirts that were on sale and everyone was happy!

It was a great 2 days! I wish we did it more often!

And I wish I had pictures!!!

All Aboard The Birthday Polar Express

Can you believe Henry Patton will be 4 years old tomorrow?! Neither can we. We celebrated his birthday last weekend with his first all boy party, polar express style. I had so much fun preparing for it, as you can probably tell! My mother who is never at a loss for words said it looked like Polar Express threw up in my house. She was SO right and we loved it! We had a breakfast pajama party with 7 three and four year old boys. It was such a fun time.   I had his pajamas monogrammed with a train and his name. He loved them and I liked how they sort of looked like the ones on the movie. Henry loved all the bells I had everywhere. There is no doubt we believe at this house. We had the jingle loud and proud!   I had his invitation made from a shop on Etsy and I was very pleased with them. One of his little friends came to the door ready for me to punch his ticket. It was so cute. I ran to get a hole punch and punched it for him. Every good p...

Meet Shaun

This is my single co-worker and church friend, Shaun. He and I have so much fun bantering back and forth. He takes what I dish out and scoops it right back up and hands it back to me. He is a keeper for that and many other reasons, which I will share on this post. He was kind enough to allow me to highlight him on Kelly’s Korner http://www.kellyskornerblog.com/ for her singles link up. His last words to me about this were, “ This better not be an embarrassment! ” I trust I will do my best to make it not be, but I make no promises! The first thing you need to know about Shaun is that he loves Jesus and the Boston Red Sox . He asked Jesus into his heart at age 8 and is still seeking and serving him today at age 26. Shaun graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in digital media and design. When he is not busy creating masterpieces for our customers he is hiking, watching the Red Sox , playing basketball, horsing around at the lake or beach, and watching movies. He is fu...
