Fall Fever

I love Fall and Wednesday is the first day of the cool, crisp, colorful season.
I thought we would go ahead and put Summer behind us a bit early, even though it is 90 degrees in my area today. Boo! I know the hubs would rather not have the abundance of leaves we will have in our yard soon but I just love the way it looks when the leaves are dressed in their best colors before they fall off in his yard. Wow!
( I blurred out our last name on the ghost for privacy reasons)
My yard decor makes me happy. It is the simple things, I tell ya!
The ghost is out a little early, but I just love it. I got it for $1 at Goodwill 2 weeks ago. It said "BOO" and "The Johnston's" on it. I spray painted it white and then repainted the "Boo" and put our last name on it...since we are not the Johnston's, of course! I plan to add 2 more pumpkins in a few weeks so there is one for each of us. Randall was afraid the ones out now will be rotten before Halloween. I got the scarecrow for my 30th birthday as a joke and her name is Mary. She is a sweetie. The 2 bundles of corn came from one of Randall's corn fields. But, the hay is from Walmart...of course.
Oh, I tend to kill mums if they are potted, so I refuse to buy one for my little "yard scape", in case you were wondering where the mum is...it is still at the "gettin place" (Yes, Julie...I just typed that!).

I always love decorating my den because that is the room we migrate to the most. Since this is now where my happy Henry crawls the most, I had to rethink my love of decorating the den. This is all the den has in it for Fall decor. It is high and out of reach! Henry's happiness trumps my decor happiness. I am a true mama now, I tell ya!

My dining room is one of my favorite rooms.
We never go in there much though. I love the natural light and the homeyness of it. I think we may have to start eating in there instead of at the kitchen bar. I love sitting at a table with family. My Mama made this wreath for me. I love putting wreaths on mirrors. It may be odd, I don't know and really don't care... just to be honest! I like it.

Our living room fireplace is one of my favorite places to decorate. Strangely enough, I like to keep it simple though. Which is odd for me. These scarecrows are it. I left the mantle alone this time. Henry does not go in here much so they should be safe. Now, I say that and I will end up picking up straw pieces off the floor later today after he tackles them both. Ha!

Here are my real live scarecrows who make our house a home, no matter the season! I have no idea why they were looking out the front window or why I took this picture, but I like it and I decided to post it. High on Daddy's shoulders is where Henry likes to be these days.

And on a side note...

We had Henry's 9 month pictures taken last week. You can go here to see a small sample of them. Lindsey did it again....incredible!

Happy Fall Y'all...a day early!

All Aboard The Birthday Polar Express

Can you believe Henry Patton will be 4 years old tomorrow?! Neither can we. We celebrated his birthday last weekend with his first all boy party, polar express style. I had so much fun preparing for it, as you can probably tell! My mother who is never at a loss for words said it looked like Polar Express threw up in my house. She was SO right and we loved it! We had a breakfast pajama party with 7 three and four year old boys. It was such a fun time.   I had his pajamas monogrammed with a train and his name. He loved them and I liked how they sort of looked like the ones on the movie. Henry loved all the bells I had everywhere. There is no doubt we believe at this house. We had the jingle loud and proud!   I had his invitation made from a shop on Etsy and I was very pleased with them. One of his little friends came to the door ready for me to punch his ticket. It was so cute. I ran to get a hole punch and punched it for him. Every good party has to have go

Meet Shaun

This is my single co-worker and church friend, Shaun. He and I have so much fun bantering back and forth. He takes what I dish out and scoops it right back up and hands it back to me. He is a keeper for that and many other reasons, which I will share on this post. He was kind enough to allow me to highlight him on Kelly’s Korner http://www.kellyskornerblog.com/ for her singles link up. His last words to me about this were, “ This better not be an embarrassment! ” I trust I will do my best to make it not be, but I make no promises! The first thing you need to know about Shaun is that he loves Jesus and the Boston Red Sox . He asked Jesus into his heart at age 8 and is still seeking and serving him today at age 26. Shaun graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in digital media and design. When he is not busy creating masterpieces for our customers he is hiking, watching the Red Sox , playing basketball, horsing around at the lake or beach, and watching movies. He is fu

He's home!

I know you didn't know my dear husband was out of town. I decided not to post such information. I get scared enough as it is, I sure didn't want to advertise the information. Yes, you read correctly, I get scared. Before we had children, and well, even after Samuel was born, I would stay with a friend of mine when Stephen was gone overnight. When we moved from that town I didn't have anyone to stay with, so I would just sit up and watch tv all night. Fear kept me awake. Isn't that silly? Well, it didn't seem so at the time, but when I look back on it now it seems silly. That is until I have to be without a manly-man in the house. I'm telling you what, I hear every noise, sound, creak, croak. It's awful. Sunday night (the first night) while I was lying AWAKE in my bed I was praying and telling God that I knew He didn't want me to be fearful and that I knew there were many verses in the Bible that told of His being with me at nighttime . I just couldn'
